Nothing earth-shattering here, just wanted to share an experience that reminded me of the importance of using the basic DJ skills.

Went out Saturday night. Got the number of HB after lots of C+F and kino. When she left entered the dance-floor area with a friend who had decided to pick-up that night. Watched this guy open at least four 3 to 8 sets in a row. The man was an approach machine! Sure he got blown out a few times but he just bounced right back and opened the next set with nothing more than "Hey, how's it going?", or "What's going on here?". The guy was acting like a natural DJ though I'm sure he was unaware of it. He was a social kamikaze and I cringed everytime he made a move and then had to pick my jaw off the ground after he opened one set after another.

I just trailed in his wake and was getting into conversations with HB's left right and centre. Ended up hooking up with one.

:D

The crowd was kinda young, and I ain't so much. So I just wanted to remind the other "mature" guys out there that it can be done, and sometimes all it takes is the persistence to approach, approach, approach. :woo:

I was a party the other night and man, I am so out of practice. For lack of a better title it's really the pick-up line conversation I need work on! A gal approached me at the open bar and asked what I was looking for. I just said a drink. My conversation skills die completely when a semi-chick is half-decent.

That's so wrong.

I need to be able to continue a conversation when it's someone else who's initiating!

In hindsight I should have answered and coninued the chat, like 'So what brings you to this event' (it was a social function for a company). Or ask about the event sponsor/speeches, etc.

So it's back to basics for me also.

Same experience, sort of...

Well, I have not beeing DJing recently. I lost all the DJ conversational styles I used to have. If there is ever a time in life that I needed the DJ thing the most is this time. This is my last semester for my degree and only needed three classes to complete. Being a person who likes challenges and like doing several things at the same time, I decided to throw few more classes on my schedule. And thse classes are: Ballroom dancing, Swing Dancing, Salsa Dancing, and Yoga. The yoga class was great when I first entered... there are about 17 students in the classe, and amazingly, I'm the only male. One of the girls in the classe said, " the only reason, you're taking this class is because of the girls".....
In all the dancing classes-Salsa, Ballroom, and Swing, there are about a ratio of 2:3, men to woman. A whole lots of beutiful women taking these classes but, for some unknown reason, I've not been able to pull any out of the bounch. I'm back to my DJ life.....
