My back hurts for over six months already from lifting weights, especiallly in the lower back area. Now I am joining muay thai class and i need to prevent this from happening, but i really want to continue to lift.

Anybody had experience like this for atleast a six months straight? That strain or really tightness feeling, in the lower back area?

My friend had a case like this for about a year, and it got better because he began doing back exercising.

Any suggestions? Cuz i dont really want to give up martial art practice and weightlifting.

if its more than just soreness, then you might have a serious problem and need to see a physiotherapist.

Pulldowns shouldn't do anything bad to your back unless you're trying to reverse-deadlift the bar down. And the lifting heavy stuff might or might not cause back pain. Do you lift with your lower back rounded, or more with your lower back straight and lift it deadlift style, with spinal erector and hip flexors?

At any event, if it's been happening for this long, I'd say go get an MRI and make sure you don't have a bulging disc or two.
