I know a few girls who would never use such words with me when we are together but on the phone and SMS they always add these sweet words "Oh, baby, whats wrong?" "Hey sweety!"

Is that just being friendly or you think it may mean something more?

that's tough. with that it's hard to tell, but most girls use that to just be friendly, or r just playing. unless u guys talk "like that" to each other, than it's nothing more than playful banter. if u r chatting her up, than it means sumthin.

Next time you hear that from a female friend of yours, simply say: "hey, you turn me on with those words..."

Like someone else here said, "If you're not f***ing her, then you're her girlfriend"

Want to know where you stand with these chicks? Make a move on them.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

Would any girl who has respect for a guy say anything of the sort?

Hint: If they like and respect you as a guy, they will treat you like a guy and want to make you feel like a guy. That doesn't include calling you a 'sweetie' or a 'baby'.

If you act like a sweetie, baby, their friend.. etc etc.. they will treat you as such and think you're a cute little puppy they can pet and use to make them feel... what's the word?

Remind them you're a guy and start acting like one, and they may just start treating you like one.

Interesting. I didn't think about it that way. My girlfriend calls me: sweetheart, baby, cutie (most of the time). She also says 'I like you' quite a few times too. It's nice to hear. What is a healthy way of changing that or is it okay to accept?

Hm I don't find it nice to hear the words 'sweetheart' 'baby' 'cutie' .. to me it comes accross like they're focussing on your weakness and patronizing you.

Personally I don't like it.. I know in most instances it's used effectionately...... in a sort of 'thats what I like about you' .. but the way it seems to be.... is that she's saying she likes the weakness in you or something...and NOT recognizing you are a MAN.

'Awww baby' - ever heard that line? That annoys the hell out of me everytime I hear a chick say it to any guy................

I'm just rabbling here really, I'm finding it hard to pin down what I mean.

It's like they're dismissing you as a man... prefering to find 'cute' things about you.. I don't like it at all.

Ermm example: If you're angry and they say 'aww baby its ok' - no it's NOT ok, I'm ****ing angry and that's my RIGHT.. don't patronize me or think I'm being cute - I'm being ****ing angry at whatever it is I'm angry about.

I really can't be bothered to think much today..... sorry it's all a bit........I can't think of the word. ;)

MJ is dead on here. To the original poster, usually when you hear that its what i think of as her being "playfully condesending". Like MJ, I'd put a quick end to that bulls***. That "misunderstanding" would be cleared up pretty damn quickly. I'd either call her out on it, or retort with something even more condesending than her "playful banter" was.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.
