I think i may have phrased my title wrong but the law states that no store can sell alcohol to anyone under the age of 21 years old. I see a sign on 7/11 that says if you look under 27, you need to have ID with you. I just turned 21 and when i bought alcohol i showed ID because i hate paying and them asking for ID. I take ID and cash out before i get to the register.

I know that if you look old enough then you probably dont need but at what age did you guys not need to bring ID to buy alcohol? I know the law requires the store and bar owners to enforce it very strictly. Of course your appearance would count a lot too.

Do any of you guys who are 25 and up still get carded to buy alcohol sometimes? I am 21 and my face looks around there but I might even look younger to most people. I am asian by the way. Are there any of you guys who are underage or around 21 22 but never have been asked for ID when you were buying alcohol?

Always take your ID. some places have mandatory ID just for liability reasons. Even if you look 100.

Some places do anyone who looks under 27 or 35. And even then, there is no way to know what kind of mood or of what ethics and morals the person behind the counter has.

When i lived in SoCal I never got carded once. Now I get carded everytime.

Yeah being Asian has its advantages with looking young for your age.

By the time your in your mid 40's, you'll still look like your 35 if you take really good care of yourself.

Alot of cities have mandatory ID laws. Meaning even if you look 60, you will still get carded or else the bouncer can lose his job.

On the contrary, I have never been carded in NYC and I absolutely do not look a day over 22-23 or so.

I've never been carded here when buying alcohol. I don't even think about it; just get out cash/debit card and pay.

Just as a matter of life, always have your ID on you, period. You need it to drive anywhere, including liquor stores. Assuming you don't purchase things with wads of cash, you're always going to be carrying a wallet which naturally enough is where you store your ID. So, where's the issue?

There is no "age" where you can magically stop getting carded. It just gradually dwindles. I'm 27, still look somewhat boyish for my age, but I rarely get carded. When I'm in a restaurant, bar, grocery store, and even liquor stores, I go about my business transactions assuming they recognize I'm clearly not some young college boy. (And if they did wonder if I was under 21, that'd be flattering.)

Most places I.D. because of the liability regardless of your age.

Another reason for the store type places to ask for I.D, is because of the excise police in certain states. They will sit outside of retail establishments and card people when they get into the parking lot. If you dont have an I.D. regardless of your age they will enter the store and ask the clerks how they knew he/she was 21 because of the lack of an I.D.

This in turn will lead to a fine for the store and or clerks along with the person who purchased the alcohol. So to I.D. is in everyones best interest.

Excise police tell retail stores to card everyone.......period....... even if your 70:crazy:
