There was no reason for Adam Hilarie to believe anything but the obvious: He had just been on a promising first date with a pretty girl.

Hilarie had met Hailey Rose Bustos on PlentyOfFish, which bills itself as the largest dating site in the world. He’d picked her up and they went bowling in Winter Haven, Fla., at Cypress Lanes, which offers shoe and lane rentals for a quarter on Thursday nights, and specials on pizza and beer.

A few hours later, the pair ended up at his place, where they talked a bit more and met up with his roommate.

Then, Hilarie dropped his date off at home.

Bustos sent the single father a text afterward: She’d had a good time, she wrote to Hilarie, and wanted to meet up the following night at his place.

The next night, her real intentions became clear, police told The Washington Post.

Bustos, 18, brought three men with her to Hilarie’s place, including two career criminals on probation for violent felonies. At least one of the men, police said, had a gun.

When Hilarie, 27, responded to the knock on the door, the men overpowered him and dashed inside, police said.

The struggle ended in the kitchen.

“Hilarie was begging for his life, he was not putting up any kind of fight, and was telling them that he had a 5-year-old daughter,” according to arrest reports obtained by the Orlando Sentinel.

Hilarie was shot in the head and collapsed on the kitchen floor, Auburndale’s Deputy Police Chief Andy Ray told The Washington Post.

With Hilarie on the floor in a pool of blood, Ray said, the suspects went downstairs, pulled their car to the front of the apartment and began stealing the dead man’s Xbox, iPhone and TVs — valuables Bustos had spotted the night before.

Have you ever grabbed a weapon at gunpoint? Or do you mean you have them lying around for them? I can not imagine something more tragic than being shot by my own weapon.

Had a friend of mine a few years back use POF, made a date with a girl, he thought things were going great... she offered to pay for dinner but wanted to pick the place... fair enough he thought... she was paying. She took him to a sports bar, he thought "Cool... this chick is pretty, generous, and likes sports... awesome" (Really you have to hear him tell the story... In spite of what happened he will get you laughing your head off).

I'll cut to the chase... he really isn't much to look at, about 5'8-ish bald, thin, wear baggy clothes because they are comfortable so you can not really see the awesome shape he is in.... he's a 3rd Dan Tae Kwon Do, and taught hand to hand combat as a US Marine Corp Drill Instructor at Parris Island before left service.... He is also a NOLA Police Office for the last 5 years after he retired from the USMC as a Gunny Sergeant.

Anyway the reason she picked this place, in case you haven't already figured it out, was that she knew her boyfriend with his buddies was going to be there. They were all liquored up and when they walked in the BF made the mistake of trying to start something with Curtis. After a 'brief' altercation, Curtis arrested the bruised up BF and one of his buddies, and the chick... who was crying that she had 'no idea' what was going to happen. She was arrested as an accessory to assault. The DA decided not to press the case against her, so the charges were dropped. Instead of just being grateful that she didn't face any serious repercussions for what she did, she went around for about a year apparently telling everyone that Curtis had her arrested because she wouldn't have sex with him. He eventually got sick of it so he sued her though the Police Union lawyer for defamation and slander, they settled from her making a public apology and recanting her story... the next week she moved to another city apparently to start a 'new life', while ruining some stupid man's.
