What personally amazes me is that despite nearly 20 years into it, guys are still under the assumption that online chicks are somehow different from real world chicks.

Every chick, in my opinion, has issues. But, if all of the chicks you're meeting on POF have issues, then that means that they have issues no matter where you would have met them.

So it makes more sense to look inward and ask yourself, why am I attracting all of these chicks with issues? It just doesn't make any sense to me to blame your computer or an online dating site. The crazy chick who is on an online dating site is just as crazy hanging out at the bar or when being introduced in a social circle. What difference does it make if she's using online or not? Crazy is crazy.

Women are women, so it doesn't matter where or how you meet them. The chick I meet in the bar is 99% likely either already subscribe to an online dating site, or she's at least thinking about creating an online profile.

That said, I personally think that there is a huge difference between pay-for online sites like match.com versus free sites like POF. I've scored a few ladies from POF, but the majority of chicks that I have met on that site are extremely jaded and cynical. That's because my opinion POF is pretty much only interested in securing advertising on its site. This consequently attracts low caliber people. I mean, if you're not paying for anything, then what do you have to lose?

I've had much better success over the years with match.com. I've met a lot of women, and they're just different. Yes, I know there are the same chicks on both sites. But that's more of an exception than the rule, and exceptions don't change the rules much.

I personally think of match.com as the Nordstrom of the online dating world. POF is the Walmart of the online dating world, and OKC falls somewhere in between. it's really all about expectations. When I go into Nordstrom, I expect a nice shopping ambience, quality sales people, and expensive items. We all know what to expect from Walmart.
I think the key thing here is the paying part. You're right, when you put money into something it's different than something you are getting for free. Some bored freeloading HO can sign up for a POF account for free. But, that same girl is not going to pay to sign up for the same thing because she's not serious about what she is doing and this is seen in the attitude she has with you. If you are paying you are serious about things because you are vested in it.
