Reading about the latest Congressional sex scandal, about Representative Weiner (no joke, that's his name!), got me thinking about this. It makes perfect sense - men are always interested in sex, so like the ever present horny male pigeon doing his mating dance, men like to show their goods to potential mating partners. I know that I would like the idea of going to a nude beach filled with beautiful women just to show my stuff perhaps even more than looking at their stuff. Likewise, it's a nice feeling going to a German sauna sex club, where the men walk hang out with a too small towel talking to willing and eager women.

I've had conversations with women who chat with strange men, and almost always the men show their stuff in the chat. I'm not sure how this happens, but somehow the men must be swinging (slight pun) the conversation to sex, and then offer to show, and if the woman accepts, the nudity ensues.

And it certainly must have something to do with the corny idea of the guy in a trenchcoat going around looking for a nubile young women (never matronly women) to flash. Perhaps this guy is a total loser who would have no chance with such women, so just flashing himself to her is a bit of a sexual act.

I may take some flaming for this, but my honest reaction is that nothing screams "loser" more than some guy texting pictures of his junk. A little too much attention seeking here? To me, this gives the same vibe as the creepy guy in the trenchcoat who hangs out in the alley hoping to flash some grandmother or 12 year old girl. I hope this isn't what's being promoted as being a "true DJ" around here.

As for the question, if you're talking about strictly genitals, guys are probably more likelly to flash their penis than a woman showing their vagina - for one thing it's easier. But you're more likely to see a girl show her boobs in public than a guy whip out his penis (fortunately). I see this as a red flag for girls who do this too - again, it's all about attention seeking.

Girls love to show their bodies, moreso than guys, I think. I know girls who have gotten breast implants, they texted pictures of their new boobs to every girl friend they know. I don't think guys are going to be sending pictures of their naked bodies to their male friends.

IDK if we're more "predisposed" to do so or not (I'm not a scientist studying that field.) But what I can tell you is that people (both men and women) lack self-control and do stupid things w/o thinking about the consequences of their rash behavior.

I agree there's a double standard. But self shooting seems like a fairly natural way for a young girl to experiment with her sexuality. Her sexual power is linked directly to the way her body looks. I don't think it's unusual that she would be curious about it.

As for a guy posting a picture of his wiener, nobody wants to see that sh!t. Plus there's an inherent difference in the judgement of an inexperienced teenage girl and a grown man.

Have a look at this collection, or any other forum dedicated to self-shots, and tell me what the percentage of underage women you think make up the majority. I wish it was just isolated to youthful sexual experimentations, but as you'll see, there are far more women in their 20's and 30's (even 40's) doing exactly the same.

As for the men in question, while I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding of sexual dynamics ("if I show her my ****, she'll want to sleep with me"), there is no doubt something deeper, likely a desire to be gawked at lustfully or slightly humiliated, or just a rush from putting yourself out there. True, BUT, I still wouldn't consider the behavior indicative of a DJ. It's far more on the AFC end of the spectrum.

I suppose you could do that, if you wanted to. I've never tried an online dating site, which I suppose is what you are referring to when you talk about rude put downs on the Internet. Personally, if I find a woman unworthy of my time, I simply drop all interest in her. Anything else is a waste of my time. I can't imagine bothering to send her a penis picture to p!ss her off.

Also, as Rollo alludes to, it's possible doing that could be giving her some power over you. She could get you kicked off the dating site (depending on their policy), she could cause some embarassment for you if you're a public figure, etc. Bottom line, I wouldn't bother.

I think there's quite a bit of difference between a guy being direct about what he wants and a guy sending a picture of his penis. The first might even be admirable, while the second sends the message "I am a creep".

But I agree there is always that 1%. I firmly believe that nothing is absolute when it comes to attraction. You can find exceptions for everything.
