I have been going to this family barber shop for years. I decided to go to this salon yesterday for a new hair style. The stylist said that she thought I was handsome and kept on stopping the haircut and touched my shoulder gently (kinda like kino) as she talked.

Are women hair stylists in generally that flirty to get bigger tips or do you think she was kinda interested?

It's really difficult to tell. People who have to interact with customers are expected to be friendly, smiling, helpful.

If you don't want to be direct (since you go back to the barbershop all the time) ask her about what she does for vacations, etc. If she starts talking about her husband, boyfriend, kids, etc, you'll get her biography. Most women that are attached will mention their main man in such conversations. If she doesn't, or if it is just a boyfriend, then you are good to go.

In general I'd say yes. I worked next door to a hair salon for 2 years and became pretty close with a lot of the hot hair stylist. They told me they flirt a lot, but if this girl is touching you and all then I'd treat her just like a girl I met on the street. Use your DJ techniques. Or you could be smart and find out the logical way. Give her bad tips and see if she still compliments you all the time.

I usually discount any type of attention from women whose partial income source is tips, unless it's very overt and obvious.

That doesn't mean I don't flirt back and C&F them, even if its just for practice.

OTOH, I have a friend who falls for these types of girls hook, line and sinker, and usually ends up disappointed.
He can't differentiate between interest and business.

Boy oh boy...you young guys

Hairstylists, waitresses, bar maids, clothing store clerks...etc

These gals work on tips and or commission, so, they see you as money. What better way to get a bigger tip than to turn on the ole female charms. Don't confuse flirty charm with money charm and you'll be all good.

Go get'em tiger

Most hairstylist that I've known were down right freaky! Easy to catch and quick to go. You will find a lot of them are geminii's like me as well as make up artist actors or entertainers.

Yes ,all female employees are sort-off pushed into being flirty with the male customers. I should know my parents have a restaraunt ,and they sort-off implied that they should and all the waitress agreed (my mother had a salon also and they and the stylist there where all very flirty but where always teases ,it's a guy-bashing heaven there even if it's uni-sex.)

To end this ,no, don't go after girls employees .It's a waste of time trust me .

P.S. Unless she works for you!:p

Like someone said earlier it shouldn't be too hard to feel her out and find out if she has a boyfriend or not.. If she doesn't, go for it, you've nothing to lose asking someone out is just a compliment.

I've been going to salons for a few years now (my hair is really wavy and messy so barber shops generally do a bad job) holding out a faint hope that maybe one day I'll meet a stylist that is single... as it is all the ones that have cut my hair always mention their boyfriend when I ask about what they've been up to recently/are doing in the future.

I can't remember the last time I met a single one..
