I'm looking for something to mix with cottage cheese and fruit is always good. I seem to remember reading somewhere here that berries are OK to eat before bed, but I can't find the post and I can't remember who said it. Is it true?

You are fine mixing them in if you want.

Added taste and added health benefits.

DONT forget the berries. That's half of people's problem. They ignore stuff they shouldn't ignore, and is actually good for them.

if a few strawberries before bedtime make or break your diet then they're the least of your worries! berries are very low carb and glycemic and are packed with goodness.

sh!t, I've agreed with Omen twice in three days, what is the world coming to..

Not sure really. We need something else to debate if we keep agreeing

Does it matter what kind of berries? I'd be eating blueberries everyday, but it's literally like $5 for a day's worth.

blueberries are most expensive b/c they're the yummiest, methinks. certainly if you can get your hands on the small ones that most resemble wild blueberries (takes me back to berry season in Alaska...glorious!) rather than the big plump (and therefore relatively flavorless) supermarket variety, I'd say it's worth the price.

here's another category where trader joe's shines. i continue to revise my opinion of that place. on my shopping list there now: flash-frozen fish, hard & semi-soft cheeses, wine, frozen berries & veggies.

Look for their sweet potatoes. Not the baby sweet potatoes in the refrigerated section. They sell a whole sack for 2 something dollars. I replaced most of my grain consumption with sweet potatoes because they're so good and convenient. Just cut em in half and pop em in the toaster oven for 15 minutes.

I like the DC theory on nutrition. Carb cuttofs after six pm or your post workout meal if you work out later than six pm. After that its potein and trace carbs. Trace carbs are thos you find in veggies. If you're anal about it, eat them at breakfast instead. Those vitamins come to better use during the day when your imune system needs'em the most.

All in all - I think its the amount of berries that counts. If you eat a bucket, I woudn't reccomend it. See?
