Thats a trick question. If you don't act like a regular tourist, and follow the cultural rules you'll be fine. However if you're loud and obnoxious and wear shorts when going to cultural events (i.e. churches, museums, visiting the pope) Or refuse to even try to speak the native language (even if its just to ask if they speak english) then you'll look like a total tool.

Best way to think of it this way, if you act properly it would be like a DJ in a club full of HB10's. If you are loud, rude and obnoxious, you're nothing more than a AFC in a club full of HB10's.

I've been over there 4 times in the last 6 months. To England twice and to Great Britain twice. I mean.... it's pretty much the same dude. I went to France as well, but I know French so it wasn't that big of a difference.

Anywhere you'd want to go in europe, you'll be "welcomed". Just don't look like a tourist jackass. No cameras hanging off your neck, no fanny packs, no overtly "Hay guyz i'm american!" items/clothing on you, be friendly, and people will be friendly to you. I've been to five european countries (six if you count Crete which is a totally different experience from Athens), and except for one asshat desk guy at a hotel in Rome, I didn't have any bad encounters.

btw I've been to Paris, Florence, Rome, Athens, Crete, Amsterdam and Edinburgh.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

In Germany and France, me and my friends were pretty much your typical retarded Americans. But literally, anytime we went out to bars, we had the whole bar become our entourage...they LOVED us, probably because we were so dim witted and foreign (we went to not major cities where English isnt so common).
