Just curious. I tried it out for one year as a junior and got my a$$ kicked every match, but it was a good experience.

The practices were the toughest conditioning I have ever been through and wrestlers are the toughest athletes in my opinion.

Yea sure, whatever you say. If you had to fight an athlete from any sport, a wrestler is the last person you would want to face.

Wrestling is the ONLY sport that if you let your guard down or give up for 2 seconds ONLY you will get pinned. I know, because this happened to me almost every match.

Mctwist, you are right about respect. X-Country is another tough and grueling sport that absolutely gets no respect.

Now that I'm doing BJJ I wish that I had done wrestling in high school. I just didn't know anything about it though, the thought to try out for wrestling never even occurred to me. I agree, wrestlers are some of the best athletes.

But I have to admit, those things they wear for their matches are sooo gay :p

i do x country and track also. about the respect thing, i don't give a damn if people don't respect it, and neither should you. i do it for my own good and my health, not to win over strangers who i will never see again. and i also do it to meet chicks =P (its a bonus).

Nobody respects swimmers either. I remember the wrestling team used to call us gay... I thought that was too much.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Swimming is another tough, grueling sport. I was never on the swim team, but I know how tiring laps can be!

I am sure the gay thing had to do with the speedos you guys had to wear, just my 2 cents.

I'll never forget my long distance h.s. track coach pointing over to the baseball players practicing and say "What they are doing is cake".
