Yesterday went to a new dentist for my cleaning. Due to covid I am overdue by about a year... anyway not having any issues. The hygienist comes out and takes me in. She starts by doing my gum measuring... then during the cleaning nearly drowns me with the water pik. I volunteered to hold the suction thing and suck the water out of my mouth. She gets done my cleaning and says I have recession on my back gums and one measures 5mm. She said it was periodontal disease but it appears to be non active because the recession is still rounded and there is no disconnect from the tooth. She said if there was a disconnect or if my gums appeared inflamed I would get a deep cleaning. I had no clue what she was talking about...my last visit they said I had recession and to take it easy brushing.
at the end of the the dentist comes in.. looks at my X-rays and examined my mouth and said everything looked good.., see you in July. I got home and googled periodontal disease and said wth!!?? It’s pretty serious... but I’ve never had any issues... never even had the symptoms of gingivitis. Does this sound like gum disease... I looked at pictures on line and even in stage 1 the gums look nasty... I’ve literally had these same spots of regression for as long as I remember.
