I like Chicago a lot. A lot of sports teams; Wrigley Field and the surrounding area is an experience everyone needs to visit. Very good food; killer pizza places around here. The women are amazing, and I read that the city demographic is close to 60% female. It's fast-paced and busy, but not crazy packed like New York (you can still have a car if you want), and not pretentious like L.A. can be (the best places to hang out rarely have lines or hefty cover charges). I feel it's the best of both worlds. During the summer there are multiple street festivals every weekend, and co-ed softball leagues are really popular as well.

Obviously, the weather is less than ideal, and if you go to the wrong part of town, things can go sour pretty quickly.

I live in a yuppy-ish area so it's full of pizza places, sushi restaurants, bars and music venues, and it's a ton of fun. Overall the prices are on the higher side, but much lower than California and New York.

I love Chicago as well, but I hear about how messed up the crime is. How many parts of the city should people not be going into?

I live in Chicago, and let me tell you, you do not want to run out of gas in a bad area of town. I felt like i was gonna get murdered or raped, or both. I actually had to leave a gas station several times because i felt so uncomfortable.

But otherwise Chicago is a fantastic place to be. And my god the pizza is to die for. It doesn't even taste like pizza. If you're in town, definately hit up Lou Malnati's (preferably) or Giordano's.

This is somewhat out of the context but...

I enjoyed Buenos Aires when I was there. Lots of good food, friendly people, places to go at night and very very nice girls that are a lot nicer than anything I've encountered so far. Lots of European tradition. Traditional role models for the most part. It's also more affordable than say LA or NYC.

The best part however, was that the men I worked with taught me a lot about women as well.

I live in Chicago and I would say its a great place to live. Great diversity, great clubbing and party town. Good sports town also. The beaches especially North avenue in the summertime are a haven for hot girls. Parking and Traffic is not as crazy as NY or LA.

The only drawback is the weather. The crime rate is really not that bad. If your in Chicago you are not going to be in the bad side of town. If you stay in the Northside you are fine. Its very safe.

I have had lengthy stays in NY, Dallas and Milwaukee and I would pic Milwaukee out of those three.

I hear Sandiego is awesome and boston also. Those are my next two places in the us I would like to visit.

How's the housing in Chicago? I've always wanted to live there, but have always been curious as to how expensive living is...
BTW, how often do the Ottawa Senators come? ;)

Yeah, Argentina is an immigrant country like America, Canada, and Australia. I have family there and so do many folks on this board (even if they don't know it). I laugh when people on here says someone looks Hispanic or Latin. People can be so stupid. Get out and travel, folks!

Brazil also has HUGE amounts of European/Middle Eastern folks. As well as the largest Japanese population outside of Japan.

The part of Brazil that tourists don't see. The best part! Tourists see the areas with the ugly girls. Blumenau is nice, safe, and very clean. You won't get kidnapped there!

Japanese Brazilians

Middle-Eastern Brazilians. Around 10 million in Brazil. Mostly Christians.

In the nice parts of Chicago you can get a studio for around $700/month, downtown is probably more like $1,000 though. If you want roommates you can get that number down very easily. My first apartment was a 4 bedroom one block from Wrigley Field (you could hear the crowd during games, it was pretty cool) and I paid $350/month. It's also one block from the El, a bus stop, and more bars/restaurants than you can count.

If you look to buy in the nice areas, the going rate is somewhere around $450 per square foot. Pretty freaking high, but you pay for location around here.
