I've read a lot that the possibility of getting AIDS through anal sex is much greater. Is that still the case even with a well-lubricated, latex condom? It's really hard to resist engaging in anal sex when you've hooked up with a woman who's got a hot, big booty. What's the option then?

I don't understand how you are 34 years old. Did you learn anything?

Is that still the case even with a well-lubricated, latex condom?
This is a serious question? I would expect some of the tweens here to ask this, but you're 34 years old?

You have the ability to search the internet and read up on HIV and how it works. Wikipedia is a click away. You can even read the simple english Wikipedia which is meant to be easier to understand because they limit the vocabulary to the international simple english. http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

@Allegory: Yes, I am 34 years old. So what? Would you have preferred that I act as if I knew everything? What wrong is there in asking a question when you're not sure about something? No matter how old we may be, we learn different things everyday. You're not obliged in anyway to respond and there's no reason to transform this into a personal issue. If I'm not sure about something, I have the right to ask.

All right. To answer your question, condoms are meant to protect against HIV, even basic lubrication can protect (a little) against HIV.

Why? Because HIV is contracted through blood. Blood to blood contact. This is why it's so common in gay men. They don't use condoms and when they have sex, micro tears eventually happen to the skin. (No lubrication). Then you have blood on blood contact. Very little is needed really. Once a virus or two gets into the blood, you're ****ed.

Also, the HIV virus resides in other fluids of the body as well but in different concentrations and the transmission rates are different. The blood is very potent when it comes to this virus though.

All right, man-that's all I wanted to know. My question was exclusively about anal sex alone because it's generally considered riskier than regular, vaginal sex with or without a condom. I may be engaging in it with a woman this weekend and I care about my health and want to make a decision that would be the least risky as possible. For example, here's what the following link says:

http://aids.about.com/od/technicalquestions/f/oral.htm

"Having unprotected (without a condom) anal sex is considered to be a very risky behavior. If people choose to have anal sex, they should use a latex condom. Most of the time, condoms work well. However, condoms are more likely to break during anal sex than during vaginal sex. Thus, even with a condom, anal sex can be risky. A person should use a water-based lubricant in addition to the condom to reduce the chances of the condom breaking."

Condoms break, that doesn't mean you get HIV instantly from it. If you feel it breaking, clean yourself up and use a new one.

HIV is like playing Russian roulette. You might get it on the 1st exposure or the 22nd. Some things significantly raise the risk, such as blood transfusions. It's pretty much guaranteed HIV once that happens.

The best place for accurate HIV information is the CDC. www.cdc.gov.

But yes, the reason why is that mucosal tears occur more easily with anal sex and this increases the likelihood you will come into direct contact with infectious blood.

The transmission rate, however, is not as high as you would think. Even if you get a direct needle-stick injury from an HIV positive person the rate of transmission is about 1 in 300.

Worldwide, heterosexual transmission is the most common cause, but in the US male-male anal intercourse is by far the most common cause, followed by IV drug use, followed by heterosexual anal intercourse, followed by heterosexual vaginal sex.

I'm very much in a dilemma. This woman in question has an incredibly big, lustful ass which shakes when she walks. My natural, masculine instinct wishes me to hit it from behind but at the same time I'm in an environment with an extremely high HIV rate and my health must come first before everything. She may want me to hit it behind. If I don't, maybe someone else will. It's a complicated situation, particularly in such a red-zone environment. Of course, getting a woman wet via intensive foreplay helps quite a bit and may reduce some of the possibilities of HIV infection, but it's not a guarantee.

condom condom and condom

With unprotected vaginal sex (considering you are the male)
Contracting HIV is at 1/50000 chance(Some doctors told me, don`t got any link to show), but if the carrier is a male, then female is at much greater risk
getting infected.

1/50000 might seem like you got the odds on you`re side, but think this, getting 7 correct numbers in lotto is 12,5millon/1. Yet some lucky bastard nails it every weekend.

If you are unsure about wearing a condom or not, Wear it!

Re:

So in other words Nimm, as long as I have a condom on, I could hit it from behind without having to worry too much, I guess?

@5String: It's very complicated here, man. For some reason, women on this end get pissed if a man asks them to take an HIV test when it's not yet a relationship that may be leading toward marriage. They often only tend to accept to do so when they've been in a longterm relationship with a guy and it's pretty serious and marriage is being considered. Yet, getting tested is the safest bet. That's why I often end at foreplay with women here if I'm not sure what their HIV status is. If they don't like it, that's their problem. I can't risk my health for several minutes of short-term pleasure.

Seriously, I wouldn't even consider it. If you are this concerned about transmitting a disease that will drastically alter your life in an environment that carries enough risk, then the answer really should come easy to you. Condom or not.

Your response is exactly what I wanted to hear, Upside. What I'll do is engage in very intense foreplay with her and then tell her that in as much as I would like to engage in sexual intercourse with her, I think it would be best we do that when we know our respective HIV status. If she's got something to hide, she'll be uncomfortable. If she's a woman who reasons well, she'll understand. If she doesn't like it, she's free to go. A lot of men here believe in engaging in sexual intercourse without a problem as long as they have condoms on. They don't care to know the HIV status of their partners before doing so. If this woman cares about me, she'll make time to get tested.

May I ask what you mean by a professional in this case, Nimm? I'm not quite sure.
