An 8 to 12 year age difference is more accurate than half age + 7

From research I have done reading articles, couples I know a.d match.com profiles I have looked at, ten years older give or take a year or two seems to be the maximum
age limit most women will date in a man. Anything more than that is uncommon and not the norm.

Half your age plus seven is only accurate until a man is in his 40s.

According to the formula a 50 year old man can get a 32 year old
woman.

I bet if you asked most 32 year old women if they would be attracted.to
And date a 50.year old man would say NO WAY!!

The good new is, if you keep yourself in shape, you should be able to get those girls ten years younger!!

Seriously, there really are no rules. A bigger deal of them are made with internet dating because you deal with so many people it's easier to draw lines like this.

Face to face it all goes out the window.

The half your age + 7 rule of thumb is about right, IMO. That said, I hope I'm dead before I'm 50. Although I said that before 40 also. And 30. And it's always been fine. The only place you really start noticing a difference is online and with the really young ones like half your age.

It's worth noting that my last relationship was with a woman 18 years my junior. Back in the fall I got blatantly flirted with by a 24 year old hottie...I completely dropped the ball on that one. I currently date women in the 28-34 range mostly with the occasional 26-27 y.o. 5 or 6 years ago before my last relationship I was in my late 30s and had no problems with women down to about 22 face to face or online...the one I wound up in a relationship with being the exception...she was younger when we met and 20 when we became a couple. But before that most were in the 24-27 range with the occasional 30ish. Oddly, mostly met the younger ones online.

But since I turned 40 I almost only hear from women around my age online when they approach and it's rare that I get responses from anyone under about 32 when I do the contacting and the vast majority are 35+. I guess I should note that everything I do online is for a specific purpose....I'm into a particular subset of b.d.s.m. (cant believe that gets filtered)... hence my name...so its a lot smaller pool and I have no pics up for obvious privacy concerns. I'm sure my results would be different if I did and I was on regular vanilla dating sites.

I find this stuff very interesting and am looking forward to hear more about what other guys have experienced. Haven't had the time or motivation to try anything yet but I'm very interested in seeing if there is a way to break thru some of these barriers online. As someone said in another thread, like it or not game is going digital and has been for a while. Plus, in my case, I have to use online for my kink side and since turning 40 meeting every 40+ land whale with 3 kids who just read a 50 shades book in my area hasn't exactly been cutting it. LOL

I could agree with the half your age plus 7 years with this caveat: That girl will be the exception.

Last summer, we had a new employee. She was 31, I was 46. Things simmered all day, no doubt about the attraction. After we parted ways, she texted me and suggested she would drive the 2 hours to come back and see me on the weekend, if I would take her quadding. Sh was a new manager, but not mine.

Wow, big ego boost for me!

I told her I appreciated the offer but was in a relationship...........she totally understood.


I look younger than my age, I work hard to keep myself in shape.

However, I consider this to be the exception. It happens occasionaloly, but I wouldn't expect it regularly. Also snagged a 34 yr old when I was 45, so who knows?

I am 36, soon to be 37 and I AM NOT attracted to women my age at all. Seems alot of them lose that youthful look right after the early 30's.

I would think this is normal for alot of guys to feel this way. I think men stop becoming attracted to women their own age, once they hit 30.

If you look good for your age (as a male), why date a woman the same age or a 3-4 years younger, when you can get one up to ten years younger!?
