Hey guys,

I am now living here in England. I live in Buckinghamshire and will be here for quite a while (2yrs).

I need to know how to get some british hook ups. so far my normal skills aren't working. The ladies here seem more conservative and closed up. I need some advice on how to crack them. I have only been out one night but I need some helo for when I go out this saturday with my buddy. I went to a club in Oxford called Lane end and had no sucess. The girls were hot though. I also went to a place called the mood bar and same old stuff. most of the girls were either taken or not interested. Are the Brits interested at all in Americans at all? I was hoping my american accent would get me through the front door at least.

LOL my my what a small world. i went there in 2004 and was there for like 3 months. i have been to oxford but not that club. i was at another place. i spent most my time in london. whilst its true that a limey can go to america and have as many women as he wants the opposite is true here. brits are alittle different and won't put out as easily just because your american. when i was there i got laid on pure luck. i was at this club and this dude was mistreating this chick so i stepped in and became the hero (stupid thing to do when i look back). she thanked me for being her robin hood and asked my name i gave it to her and she gave me hers. she introduced me to her friend and i introduced her to my friend. i offered a drink and she obliged. we danced alittle and she kissed me. we made out the whole night. we left the club, one thing lead to another and BAM were screwing like crazy.never had sex again when i was there. the girls can be colder at times then americans and the PUA methods don't work on them (if they even work at all) neither will cold approaches. its like they had a different sense of humour or something. so unless your really good looking or now how to work brits you'll have no chance in HELL! you will probably have to be introduced to someone at a club or party. and ask for a date from there

I am serious, nobody likes Americans outside America. When they hear your American it is a big turn off. It is just the worlds opinion of America. You are all seen as over patriotic idiots who only care about the latest reality TV show who is winning American idol, the latest song on MTV and when they can get their next junk food fix. America is seen as an uncultured place filled with dumb people.

I am not saying i agree but that truly is most of the world opinion.

I have a buddy stationed at Lakenheath (sp?), he's American, and gets nothing but flack when he's out at pubs and clubs from the British d-bags.

I don't believe ALL Brits hate Americans, but I do know some of them despise us.

FWIW, he's had a British GF for the last 4 months...

I know nothing of the women over there. I hope they're not too bad, I'll be there in January for the month...

I have never been abroad...but foreign students (esp. the europeans) have told me they don't like Americans primarily for two reasons:

a) we're arrogant

b) they're jealous (usually not europeans, but folks from other, less-fortunate parts of the globe).

now this doesn't mean that you are arrogant, but due to the powers-that-be, for the last the last eight years, we've been painted with these colors to the rest of the world.

I can't tell you what game to use, but I suggest not using the ****y-funny game plan, since:

a) ****y shows that you are just another arrogant a**hole American in their eyes
b) they might not get their since of humor (British humor is more dry, as opposed to our more abrasive style of humor).

quite honestly I would look for other American chicks if you can. Otherwise, just adapt to the culture (watch whats popular, read popular magazines, etc).
this will:

a) show that you care about whats going on in their country

b) demonstrate that you are open to other's ideas (aka not typical American in their eyes).

Ordinary is right - show interest in their culture and maybe use that as a good opener by playing the "dumb american tourist" like can you show me how to play darts or can you tell me how to get a proper pint?
Show them you are open to learning about their culture and way of life and most of all, show that you are genuine. Ultimately you are an outsider. I have had great luck when abroad though I have never been to Britain. The one thing I am told is that I am not like a normal American and wearing a flag on my chest but acting like a Human being meeting others.
Your friend is also invaluable cause if they know that you have connections they will be less guarded with you.
P.S. Maybe if the above works for you, then you can ask them how the Brits hook up at the pubs!

Your better bet is to find girls in unofficial places as opposed to going to a nightclub like a local pub or something like that. thats it make friends in a bar and have a few drinks and then find out if later those same guys are going out clubbing later. if they are then hang out and go clubbing with them. its much quiter and you can make friends who will in turn introduce you to others. and trying to get on them from there. its not so much a question of being american. people rarely nag people because of their nationality,unless you try to stick it in everyones face and try to act all patriotic all the time. no one likes to have another culture stuck in their face. brits have a dry type sense of humour. something that us americans may at times find insulting. its very subtle and nots as in your face. thats the reason why negs don't work. its just a different culture.

Dude, that is the biggest load of **** I've read in a long time. Yes, there is a lot of anti-americanism in the world right now. But women all over the world have spread their legs for me in recent times.

British historian, Paul Johnson, describes anti-americanism as racist envy. Yes a good deal of Euros want to see us crash.

I've found in most cases that when you interact one-on-one with people they will drop their stereotypes, for the most part.

Most people(non-north americans), with half a brain, can see the difference between a person from America and the American government.The American government has pissed a lot of people off in the last six years. I was overseas on 9/11; the day after people were incredibly sympathetic. I know there are stereotypes about us, and many of them exist for a reason. Loud, gun-toting rednecks can easily apply.

The only Brits who've really given me **** for being an American spoke with a ****ney accent so there was not much point to argue cause they likely hadn't finished highschool. Obtuse would describe them well.

Many Brits will give you a good ribbing for being an American but all in good fun. It is easy to crack on them after you are actually familiar with their culture. Can you say 'repressed'? Yes Americans can be repressed, but Brits wrote the book on it.

thats it. buy a copy of the david d'angelo ****y funny rountine. don't use the mystery method because many times things like negs actually turn out quite rude over there. there is some good stuff there at davids site and its similar to the dry humour they have. being american gives you an excuse to talk to them and gets you through the door. on many occasions i would start speaking to girls and they would be like "are you an american?" and all of the sudden get real interested. some girls liked my accent and would be like "I wish I had your accent". they would ask where i am from, how america is like and all kinds of stuff. it makes you interesting and different which will definately get you through the door. having good looks wouldn't hurt either. as well as a good sense of dry humour.

It really depends how you go about it. Some of the examples I've seen of C+F on YouTube would just make people in Britain cringe. Way too cheesy, imo. It is quite normal to 'take the piss' out of people to build rapport, however.

That's right. what I was trying to say was C+F is the closest thing to the kind of humour in Britain. to be honest you would probably have to be sarcastic then ****y funny. dry witty sarcasim will do the trick but it can't be the insulting type. the lady needs to know your making fun of them in a friendly kind of way.

e.g. one time my buddy and i went to visit one of his friends in london. she told us to visit her at work. we walk in and she is sitting really comfortably on the chair with her legs stretched out. so we start talking to her and then her manager walks in and says "don't work to hard now". . learn the art of sarcasm and you'll be fine.

Hey Kalel...don't worry bout it bro. One of my best friends has done a lot of traveling, especially in Europe. From the stories he's told me, the girls over there trip all over themselves trying to fuk you when they find out you're an American. Should be a cake walk. Plus, I've heard that Britain has some of the bustiest women in the world. +2 points! lol!
