Hi fellow dj's Im english living in canada and we get a lot of american t.v. american news seems to give the impression of a paranoid country beating on its chest, but behind it seems to be a country thats getting left behind as the majority of the world realises things have changed and gets on with things. Any one in the states see things that way?
p.s. im not usa bashing, I know a lot of cool americans, just curious as to how people see stuff down there?

Yeah. I agree. Although the media pumps us up with so much crap I dont watch News or TV much at all anymore. Its social programming. And yes we are also being 'left behind' most of the rest of the world pays alot more for gas and we just remain ignorant. I think most of europe is around $7 a gallon (correct me if Im wrong please). It seems also that more people know more about reality TV than their own rights and laws. Pretty sad really.

Well, seeing as I was born in Vancouver....

Upside:

Most temperamental climate in Canada
Beautiful place to live and visit
Lots of ethnic hotties
People are generally friendly
Pot is somewhat tolerated (I have seen people smoke a joint and have cops pass right by them)

Downside:
Rain, lots of it, especially in the fall and winter. This year we had a record 40 days of consecutive rainfall. Upside rebuttal: True it rains a lot but during the summer it is as dry as any other city.
Most expensive place to live in Canada. A fact that is only going to get worse as the 2010 Olympics approach. In order for a family to buy a house in Vancouver, they need to pull in at least 120k a year.
The reason pot is somewhat tolerated is because the police are going after the heroin and crack addicts in the city. Heroin is a huge problem in the city, and they are constantly trying to find ways to deal with it.

Point is there are always going to be a good and bad side to anywhere you live. If I could live and work in Vancouver, I would in a heartbeat but like I said, I was born there and have always considered it my home

Vancouvers pretty good, I agree with Doctormad, Ive said the same thing though, looks great when you get here but after a bit when you see what its all about, its not as good, the chicks here are knockout to look at but ive never been to a place where the women are such a pain in the ass, its a good job there good looking cause there personalities are fvcked..still theres some beautifull babes here from korea, japan, china etc... no body gives you any hassle, ive never seen a pub/bar fight in 10 years and only had one fight and that was the first month I moved here, unlike the U.K. where it was a weekly thing..so pretty laid back and all things considered I'd rather be here that over there..
