I saw a story on the local news tonight saying that an AOL survey states that my city (Minneapolis, MN) was the fifth worst city for dating in the nation. I had to find out for myself which was actually worse.

Since I don't have an A.O.HELL account, I had to look elsewhere for the statistics and I found the following site with the top 10 best and worst dating cities (Minneapolis is actually the third worst).

Anyway, here's a link to the best and worst ten with an explanation of how the ranking was determined.
America’s Best (and Worst) Cities for Dating

For those of you that just want to see the list of the 80 cities in the city, here's the complete list.

Complete list.

And I can't believe that Detroit is a better city to find a date than Minneapolis. :(

#17 - Baton Rouge, LA

Out of all of the cities in the nation, mine is #17. I have never been more proud to call myself a Louisianian... oh, and this is further proof that us in Baton Rouge are better than the people in New Orleans (way down the list at #31)...

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Is it a bad thing if your city isn't even on the list....:p

Chicago ranks 55, no surprise there. We're also the fifth fattest city in the country and I think we're underestimated there. The average lady has to be hauling around an extra 20-25 pounds. They have no incentive to improve their physiques or stuck up attitudes as they get hit on all the time anyway. Any female who is halfway good looking, isn't obese, and has at least some semblance of a personality is either attached by 25 or knows she can hold out for something very close to her ideal. That's all for this rant.

46 Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV I guess that isn't too bad. Although I do think I live in one the of the uglier parts of the Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV area.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

Neither can I. (chuckling) I think we came in as third fattest, too.

Actually, there does tend to be a lot more guys than gals at most social events here in the Detroit area: except for some insufferable chick singer/songwriters whose fans are mostly into other womyn, anyway (I know, it's a horrible generalization, but I just could not resist :D).

I did notice that most of the "best" are college towns.

something is not right with this...look at the % of single people between 18 and 24. I find it extremely hard to believe that in most of those cities about 4 out of 5 college students is single...

Here's my area.

59 Orange County, CA 41.2 9.4% 80.7% 56.0 84.8 2.5

Compare this to Long Beach, which is a short drive up the 405.

32 Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA 51.9 10.3% 81.2% 42.1 63.2 13.9

No wonder I get more play there, ha! :D

"Single" may mean "not married."

Get this, supposedly Minnesota is one if not THE healthiest states in the nation. It's said have the most hospitals, parks and golf courses per capita (or something like that). Obviously they never had Minnesotans get onto a scale to determine just how "healthy" we really are...:p

Albuquerque: #65 9.8%

I'm actually suprised at how low houston ranked on the polls. Houston is a huge city though

No surprise there

You have to be healthy to survive those winters, Francisco. We at least have the relatively warm waters of Lake Michigan to intercept those cold NW winds after the cold fronts. A layer of blubber definitely doesn't hurt, though :D.
