Hey guys, i have been working out for a while now, i believe roughly 2-3 months. Right now i am at 161 pounds, 8.9% body fat, and 5' 8.

im trying to reach 170, so 9 more pounds! you think its reachable in the next 2-3 weeks....? im trying to set a goal for how much to gain each week.

Eat a lot, do big compound lifts, etc etc.

You can only gain 2 pounds of muscle a month MAX,the rest if fat. Don't be concerned with how much you weigh.

hogwash

too many factors to make this assumption. and yes I've read the article you got that notion from.

OP - that's an ambitious goal. with your stats you have obviously trained before, so you're no longer in the "noob gains" stage. unless you're lying about something. you might be able to do it in 6 weeks or so if you eat like an animal, sleep as much as you can and train balls to the wall. the supersquats/"milk and squats" cycle would actually be perfect for you.

you have to be hardcore dedicated to get through that though ...

sorry, 2-3 months is not training for a long time.

if a goal like 9 pounds gained has to be achieved RIGHT NOW, how are you going to hang on to the gains...?

keep doing what you're doing, and strongly consider eating more. you'll get those 9 pounds before you know it, and then some, if you keep it up.

Yeah theres no set in stone number about how many pounds of muscle you can gain in a month, and gains aren't linear either

I'd be interested in seeing your diet and routine, its possible that you already got your newbie newbie gains (bascially just moving weights around), but not the newbie gains that come from correct training and nutrition which most people are yet to have and i'm talking people that have been lifting and eating wrong for years that make some impressive gains once they train and eat correct.

Hey guys im liking these replies,

no im not lying, i have lifted before.
heres some of my history.

since 1997 i have been doing taekwondo, i stopped taekwon do in 2005 and began lifting in high school class, but what i meant by 3 months, was, i have been dedicated to lifting once again. I just wanna get more mass, people tell me i am pretty big i want to gain more mass look bigger, my friend weighs around 178-185 or so, so i figured getting to his weight would make me bigger.

I am not a big noob at lifting, but as far as facts go for weight training i always like comments, facts, added opinions, it helps me out as i train.

thanks all.

Well i dont really have a Diet, and a routine,

I just rotate the muslces i work out, on different days ill do biceps triceps chest upper chest and so on.

i do a good job of staying away from fast food, and after everywork out, i eat cottage cheese.

seroiulsy guys, it would be nice if someone linked me to a routine or types of excercises.

mine are working for me well, but i just want to know if a routine will help me more.
