it's as simple as that.
for some reason, i'm more motivated, more focused, and in general just a lot happier when i know theres something good for me in the very near future. leave your activities, your conversations, your games, your whatever, while your interest level is still high (sound familiar?). don't overdo things so that you'll never want to go back to it again.
for example, if you're writing a song, don't wait until you're so bored and you've given up. leave at a point while you're excited and you'll want to keep going. from there, start something new and repeat this process.
your interest level is high in something when you can easily and enjoyably keep going without it feeling like a burden. it all has to do with extremes. don't become too addicted to the television, or to the telephone, or to video games. but that doesn't mean don't enjoy them. when you're working on a big project, work hard, but don't over-exert yourself so that you won't have enough energy or motivation for next time. do a little bit of lots of different things. and always set your mind to coming back to it, if it's a goal that'll usually take more than one day (or if it's just something fun).
by doing this, you'll find out that there are so many things you love doing, and still more to be found. be happy with what's coming to you and a happy life you shall live.
always have something to look forward to. and remember... leave while it's still interesting and fun! it's as simple as that.
