Alright...so now what?

I got this girl's number today. No big deal. She's a sophomore, and I just started my first year of college.

It's become apparent that people don't really "date" in college; I'm not going to take this girl out on a Friday night. After searching a bit, I found some post about texting them on the weekend and finding out which parties they are going to. Is there anybody that could expand on this, it seemed a little vague to me.

Sorry if this seems like a silly thread, but the first several girls' numbers I got since I've been here, I think I weirded them out by actually calling them and trying to set up a specific time to hang out with them....this is a different world it seems.

maybe try talking to them for a while before asking to set a date. I find that reminding them who you are and why you have their number is always useful..

if its a cold pick-up.. like a bar pick up or something where you haven't built a lot of rapport, you could meet up for coffee sometime, or grab lunch or something... i mean.. otherwise just ask the chick to your place.. if shes interested she'll spend time with you whatever you're doing... this isn't to say just ask her to your place.. be inventive.. lour her.. haha.. as in.. don't make blatantly obvious what you both already know is going down.. just think of an excuse that she can come by and then run with it... I once had a girl offering to clean my place for cash.. 20 minutes later she was offering to do it for sex... this was a few nights ago.. I didn't end up having her over that night, had other plans. BUT I SAW HER IN CLASS a few days later.. haaa.. what a hilarious conversation...

Instead, try to set up a date on the first interaction. Don't call it a date. Say "hey, did you ever try the coffee at XYZ coffee shop around the block? Well, they have this great Caramel Strawberry Latte that I always get. I'm about to go there now. Come and join me" If she says she can't, say "Well, you seem kinda cool. If you're busy now, let's meet up for 5 minutes for a cup of coffee tomorrow at 2:00". At this point hopefully you got enough information to know her schedule and you can set up a proper time. If she says yes, say "great! How do I get in touch with you just in case something comes up?". If she still says no, say "well, then maybe we can do it some other time. What's the best way to get in touch with you" OR "well, give me your number and I'll call you so that maybe we can get that coffee another time".

The number is the LAST thing you should get. I hate, hate, freakin hate phone game. It's a HUGE waste of time. Think about how nervous you feel when you call a woman you hardly know. Don't you think she has that nervousnous also? If she doesn't know you and is not comfortable around you, it will be very difficult to meet up with her again. You have to establish more comfort with her and spend more time with her. 2 minutes is NOT gonna do it. Really, the only phone game that comes through for me are girls I spent at least 15 minutes with gaming and building comfort.

my fault... I said almost the exact same thing that you said. I hate repeating other people's advice. But I read your post after I put mine up. I was too anxious to answer the question because phone game is a touchy subject for me. It's a huge pain-in-the-a$$. Your advice was great!

this is what i do. i get a couple numbers per day then send out a bulk text message to all the girls in my phone. My phone allows me to send out texts to 10 people at a time. Something like "coffee on monday?" or "what's good for the weekend" This way you weed out the flakes and have a much higher chance of getting one of the girls to suck your cawk. ha

i think it would be kind of awkward going to a party with a girl that you dont really know. I would do something small like coffee or at most lunch with a girl before going to a party with her. More comfortable for the both of you that way.
