Im taking a weight training course at school and my teacher decided he will train me to prepare me for the schools body building show in May. Ive been workin out for about a year. Today was the first day i actually did dead lifts. I did a pyramid set 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3. I did my first set of 10 with 45 and kept adding 10s after every set. after i did my set of 6, i went to sit down and felt very light headed and as if I was going to throw up. I actually just fell to the ground cause of how bad i felt. My teacher talked to me and told me that this is good. He said that this is probably the first time Ive ever worked out this hard and that this is the way to get big. What do you guys think? 45 minutes a day of almost killing myself........

why'd you do 8 sets of deadlifts? sounds like way too much for a compound lift. as far as fainting, make sure you are breathing properly and staying hydrated.

preparing for contest requires manipulation of diet, not training.

if you feel ill stop, vomiting maybe hardcore but in the long run your body wont appreciate the abuse. the key is to find the sweet spot of training, not extremelly heavy, and not too light, e.g 2 reps from total failure with strict form.

if you perform 8 sets of heavy deads, youve overtrained not in a perspective of limiting mass gains but glucose expenditure and energy. what would you do then for your middle back, and traps if you cant get off the floor. compounds are good but dont rely on solely compounds to build a physique, isolation is what seperates a big physique from a big physique with "extras" worthy of competition.

train smarter, not harder.

Also having good meals before gym and NOT drinking energy drinks while doing it and before.
