I'm so sick of hearing this. Recently I was having a conversation with my dad about a girl I recently stopped seeing. I told him that she didn't act interested in me at all. She would ask me something about my day and as soon as I would tell her, she would start going on about something completely unrelated, usually about her "problems". She was narrow-minded and hard as hell to make plans with. My dad's response: "Let me tell you a little secret about women; they're all like that." They are? Give me a break. I've also heard this **** from my brother. Is it just me, or are they just a couple of guys who have apparently only had relationships with some really stupid women?

I'm sure that you do as well as every other guy that doesn't choose the simplicity of generic labeling. Sometimes the labeling is based on their limited experiences that defines the perception.

Take your example, you're experienced with knowing women who don't fall into that category. It helps you understand that the limiting belief that all women are a particular way isn't true.

Compare that to someone who hasn't experienced otherwise, someone who has chosen not to consider that there are other types of women. See how that alone could hinder their effectiveness with women and perpetually keep them in their current state?

I'd also like to add that my brother has really only been with one woman for his entire life. They got together in high school and were married shortly after graduation. The funny thing is that he wasn't ready to get married. She basically gave him a guilt trip and made him sleep on the couch until he came around to seeing things her way. They've been together for almost a decade now. My dad on the other hand is almost fifty and still single. He rarely dates and when he does meet someone, they end up being completely unstable. Why do you think these guys keep finding themselves in relationships of this kind?

I understand that, but my ex and I showed a great deal of mutual interest in one another. I'm not saying that she didn't ignore me from time to time. But you can tell when someone is and isn't genuinely interested in what you have to say, and this most recent girl definitely was not. She was only interested in hanging out or talking on the phone in as much as she was able to vent or whine.

sometimes i find that when somebody is truly not focusing on your story....get to the point! some people go to much into detail and by the time they get to the punchline your already asleep. also people lose interest when you can't put a face on a person. like if i was telling my woman how funny my co-worker was today it wouldn't be as funny cause she wasn't there and she doesn't know the guy.

if your monotone then that could be also a problem. try swearing through the conversation. the f-word always gets peoples attention. i always find the raunchy story teller to be quite captivating cause of their profanity use. that my turn some people off though.

act excited and passionate about what happened in you life and your enthusiam should garner their attention.

Well if you want to generalise, you could argue all humans are the same. We're all motivated by the same set of needs (sex, ego, social life, security).

Its just that we all have different ideas of what those needs are. One person's "ego" need may involve becoming dictator, another person might be happy to be a local politician serving the community.

Same goes for women (and men, jews, blacks, americans, etc). They all have the same needs, just different perspectives.
