How does alcohol effect strength and muscle gains when you drink on a daily bases in moderation?

I like my couple glasses of red wine and I may at times have 3 or 4 daily to the effect of a minor buzz. I believe the alcohol content of the red wine I drink is somewhere around 12% to 15%.

Whats the debate on this will I become weak and dry up if I continue on this path?

I do make sure I get my bodyweight protein though any experiences anyone have?

It doesn't affect it much. I've been sober for a bout a month and used to work out extremely hung over, and the amount of weight I'm lifting sober is not much more, but I do have a lot more energy for cardio and such.

I have read research that says red wine is great for heart health and helps to relax blood vessels and all and it seems to me this would be an added benefit to the diet as well.

Actually I have found since hittin' the wine I have more energy to workout but at this early stage it could be all in my head as I have just started drinking on a daily bases for about a month.

Thanks GettinLuckyAintLuck

Anyone else have experience with alcohol use while lifting?

Back when I was training for a fight in mma I had some experiances with alcohol. Even if I just had A beer it felt like my muscles were a little weaker when I sparred or I was a little slower for ducking that punch. Now hungover I was ****!

Plus your getting all those unnecessary calories that are useless. When I was training every calorie counted in keeping my weight. Every calorie needed to be building muscle or energy no simple carbs allowed haha.

Just what I went through.

You gotta do what feels right with your body. Everyone is wired differently

P.s. We did a study in health class there are plenty of things that are great for your heart with no disadvantages. Red wine does have some benefits but it has downsides as well. you could drink a smoothie which is great for you in so many ways haha....

If you want to talk, talk to your friends. If you want a girl to like you, listen to her, ask questions, and act like you are on the edge of your seat.

I hit my record on flat bench with 3 beers in me. When alch in in your system for short term is gives you a strength boost. But long term it lowers hormone levels, which is very bad. Personally I said stick to it in moderation and get your water in throughout the day. Good Luck
