When I trained mma, it was 2-3 hours of intense cardio, intensity that most people can't comprehend. New guys usually puked. After training, I would slam a 32 oz gatorade, which is just sugar water, the worst kind of junk food. Then when I got home, I'd drink a 6-pack of beer. And speaking of 6-packs, I had the best one of my life, in my early 30's.
If your workout is intense enough, there is a window afterward of a few hours where your body will turn junk carbs into muscle and not fat. But it requires high-intensity cardio. Work some sprint intervals into your run.
There was actually some research out this month that indicated that 60 seconds of full-tilt cardio, like sprinting as fast as you can, will have similar health benefits as 20 minutes of low-intensity cardio.
