Some graffiti from Pompeii before it got buried by a volcano in 79 AD: http://www.pompeiana.org/Resources/Ancient/Graffiti from Pompeii.htm

Some men wrote:

VIII.2 (in the basilica); 1812: Caesius faithfully loves M[…name lost]
V.5 (near the Vesuvius Gate); 7086: Marcus loves Spendusa
VI.15.6 (House of Caesius Valens and Herennius Nardus); 4637: Rufus loves Cornelia Hele
VII.2.18 (vicolo del Panattiere, House of the Vibii, Merchants); 3131: Figulus loves Idaia

And by women :p

VII.2.18 (vicolo del Panattiere, House of the Vibii, Merchants); 3117: Atimetus got me pregnant

Guess babes back then used the same tricks to make guys go crazy for them and guys were just as susceptible as now and the image of men all being bad asses with 6 pack abs and macho attitudes may not be true.

Since when has love become AFC?

False love is "AFC". You can't tell the difference by some writing on the wall like this...

Why would anyone write something like that if the love he felt was conditional and he could end it should the other person behave badly? There is no reason, because someone would only want to yell it and scream it to the world if it was an extremely important, a defining value to him.
The very fact that someone would write something like that on a public wall shows that he is in unconditional love with someone. And we all know that
unconditional love = ONEITIS

: If you are able, but not willing, why do you put off our joy and kindle hope and tell me always to come back tomorrow. So, force me to die since you force me to live without you. Your gift will be to stop torturing me. Certainly, hope returns to the lover what it has once snatched away.
I guess AW's and flakes are nothing new! This is an example of one-itis. Writing so and so loves so and so, was not oneitis, unless the female in question, wanted nothing to do with him.

Some other ones I liked:

We have wet the bed, host. I confess we have done wrong. If you want to know why, there was no chamber pot
Thats great!

Two friends were here. While they were, they had bad service in every way from a guy named Epaphroditus. They threw him out and spent 105 and half sestertii most agreeably on wh0res.
I like how they took no shyt back then.

May Love burn in some lonely mountains whoever wants to rape my girl friend!
I cant figure out what that means. Anyone?

VIII.2 (in the basilica); 1824: Let everyone one in love come and see. I want to break Venus’ ribs with clubs and cripple the goddess’ loins. If she can strike through my soft chest, then why can’t I smash her head with a club?

Back then there were less hors and women obeyed their man. Now, thanks to feminism and all that, women are doing what they want acting out of their nature.

Judges 16 (New International Version)

Some time later, (Samson) fell in love with a woman in the Valley of Sorek whose name was Delilah. The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, "See if you can lure him into showing you the secret of his great strength and how we can overpower him so we may tie him up and subdue him. Each one of us will give you eleven hundred shekels of silver."

So Delilah said to Samson, "Tell me the secret of your great strength and how you can be tied up and subdued."

Samson answered her, "If anyone ties me with seven fresh thongs that have not been dried, I'll become as weak as any other man."

Then the rulers of the Philistines brought her seven fresh thongs that had not been dried, and she tied him with them. With men hidden in the room, she called to him, "Samson, the Philistines are upon you!" But he snapped the thongs as easily as a piece of string snaps when it comes close to a flame. So the secret of his strength was not discovered.

Then Delilah said to Samson, "You have made a fool of me; you lied to me. Come now, tell me how you can be tied."

He said, "If anyone ties me securely with new ropes that have never been used, I'll become as weak as any other man."

So Delilah took new ropes and tied him with them. Then, with men hidden in the room, she called to him, "Samson, the Philistines are upon you!" But he snapped the ropes off his arms as if they were threads.

Delilah then said to Samson, "Until now, you have been making a fool of me and lying to me. Tell me how you can be tied."

He replied, "If you weave the seven braids of my head into the fabric on the loom and tighten it with the pin, I'll become as weak as any other man." So while he was sleeping, Delilah took the seven braids of his head, wove them into the fabric and tightened it with the pin.

Again she called to him, "Samson, the Philistines are upon you!" He awoke from his sleep and pulled up the pin and the loom, with the fabric.

Then she said to him, "How can you say, 'I love you,' when you won't confide in me? This is the third time you have made a fool of me and haven't told me the secret of your great strength." With such nagging she prodded him day after day until he was tired to death.

So he told her everything. "No razor has ever been used on my head," he said, "because I have been a Nazirite set apart to God since birth. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as any other man."

When Delilah saw that he had told her everything, she sent word to the rulers of the Philistines, "Come back once more; he has told me everything." So the rulers of the Philistines returned with the silver in their hands. Having put him to sleep on her lap, she called a man to shave off the seven braids of his hair, and so began to subdue him. And his strength left him.

So is this the basic point of the story, that she finally wore him down, and he was too AFC to see her true intent? You'd think he'd have a clue when SHE tied him up, and all of a sudden, the Philistines came. Or, is the point that he knew all along, but didnt retain his manhood enough over time, so she finally fooled him, and he broke his pact with God? I've never had this story explained.

Chumps are a universal constant.

Heh,..

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

I just cant decide who's the biggest fool in the story; Sampson for telling his secret, or Delilah and the Philistines for believing he had super-human strength to begin with (that couldn't be humbled by a few men properly armed). Nah.... I'd have to go with choice C - anyone living in the 21st century believing any of that in a literal sense. Sadly, that number even exceeds the number of AFCs.

WHo's to say it's not true?

Also, like most stories, their is a lesson involved.

I don't think Gods intent was to force you to believe everything the bible tells you and ask no questions

, but to learn the lesson of the story. that's the main purpose of bible stories

i think the lesson in that story speaks well. people can learn alot from the bible

You make it sound like I'm some great soothsayer to say with absolute certainty that one man made of flesh and blood could easily be subdued by however many men it took, including being armed to the tee with iron.

Plain and simple, you have to believe in genuine fairy tales to believe that story literally. Yes, I'm well aware that countless grown men believe in them, and this fact remains a dumbfounding, and never-ending mystery to me. I certainly have more difficulty accepting and understanding that, than I do the disease of AFCism.

I don't think Gods intent was to force you to believe everything the bible tells you and ask no questions
In this specific case, did you mean (prophet) Samuel?

I liked Samuel's story too. Emphasis on liked. I don't think the overall quality of the bible warrants its success in terms of numbers of sales and numbers of followers.

but to learn the lesson of the story. that's the main purpose of bible stories
What you want to keep in mind is that many of the so-called lessons in the bible had often already been taught by an author that pre-dated the bible. Of course the lesson here was the generic one repeated several times in the bible - trust God and he will make things right (despite the fact that those who claim to not believe in God can have success after success).

i think the lesson in that story speaks well. people can learn alot from the bible
The (generic) lesson of trusting God? If that impresses you, try trusting yourself instead. You'll be absolutely blown away when you trust in yourself to make it alone, and then succeed without any help.

People can learn a lot from a variety of sources. I'd throw the bible in there, but it's certainly no be-all, end-all.

Think of it this way, ***** can make a male do stupid/crazy/ridiculous things, that no normal thinking person would ever consider. Also, you gotta give the writer some slack. it's not like they were going to write out

"And Samson got pissed off and left, realising Delilah just wanted to trick him. But he got bored and the Isreali women weren't biting so he went back for some of that sweet sweet philistine pvssy. This or some other similar happening kept taking place over a few months until finally, Samson had enough of her ****, and instead of pounding her into the ground like a post the way he should have, he gave up."

i think Chris Rock put it best, if you hear "tell me and it'll be ok" 900 times, your brain goes to bat**** and you start to think "If i tell her, it'll be alright."

I think I understand. Basically, this story is Gods way of telling us that we can never let our gaurd down with a woman, and also to not be pvssy blind in the first place.

I just wonder if he was aware she was trying to decieve him, and thought he was strong enough to resist, or if he was oblivious to it. Did he go carve things in the 'sosuave' wall, saying "my girl keeps trying to get the secret of my strength out of me, and then the Philistines keep trying to get me. What should I do? I trust her and all, and I know for a FACT she's not trying to have me imprisoned, but something doesnt seem right. Should I send her a scroll asking whats up?"

The replies were like "Dumpeth the hor!"
