I have been eating like a horse lately I think I've consumed around 5000 calories everyday. The problem is I have extreme metabolism and I do cardio everyday so I burn all of it off and it's preventing me from getting any bigger!

My typical diet:

Morning: 3 toast with peanut butter and jelly with 2 glasses of milk and usually one apple.

Lunch: I work at macdonald so I get half price and I'm not allowed to go eat somewhere else so I try to eat healthy. I always get 2 apple dipper (NO CARMEL) I just eat the apples and I eat 2 Grilled Chicken Sandwitch BLT which has NO TRANS FAT about 600 calories each with 47 grams of protien.

Dinner: I eat what my guardians make usually pasta or rice with something.

So my quetion is... should I change to eating 6 times a day? should I stop eating macdonald's and start brining in my own food? What's the best suppliment I should take? What kind of foods should I eat more? Damn I'm so clueless on dieting someone HELP PLEASE!

Definitely get your diet in order before you consider using supplements unless you are talking about just a multivitamin or maybe some shakes if you don't have time to fit in the extra meals.

If you are not gaining weight, I would suggest drinking a shake between breakfast and lunch and then another one between lunch and dinner. See if you start gaining weight then, if not, add another meal or drop the cardio.

6 Meals? Yes
Stop with the McD's? Yes

There are countless threads, forums, websites, books etc. that outline proper diet for bulking, cutting, fitness, endurance, athletic performance. Do a little bit of research.

Well I actually read a lot of articles including Anthony Ellis program and got advice from a lot of different ppl but the problem is EVERYONE says something different like you shouldn't eat cheese/ butter/ peanut butter and milk so I wasn't sure what was true so I was wondering if someone who REALLY KNOWS what they're talking would share their insight.

Those 3 meals are getting you 5000 calories a day? I don't think so. Eat atleast 5-6 times a day and add up your calories on www.fitday.com
Wow thanks for sharing the site it helps a lot... holy cr*p all that was only 2000 calories! OMG I guess I have to eat myself sick to actually get 5000 calories.

lol ease yourself up there. maybe go 3000 calories for a while, then 3500, then 4000. I don't know how much cardio you're doing but you might want to see if you grow off 4000 at first.

Anyone who tells you not to eat peanut butter is telling you not to eat PROCESSED peanut butter because it's filled with trans fat. Natural peanut butter is good. Cheese and butter are full of saturated fat and salt, but they're OK in moderation unless you like diets so strict that you binge half way through it.

AE tells you not to drink milk because HE'S lactose intollerant  It's not something you need, but a glass a day won't hurt if you can process lactose.

I'm 6'1-6'2 and 170-175 pounds I kinda lost a few pounds from all the biking to work (12 miles under 20 min) I play a hour of basketball everyday and lift heavy every other day so I usually burn around 5000 calories on those days. The reason I don't like Mac-chicken is it has transfat the only thing that doesn't have trans fat is the grilled chicken sandwitch so I guess I'll eat 10 of those everyday! BTW my goal is to be around 185-190 pounds.

Should somebody eat 1lb of protein per lb of bodyweight or per lb of lean muscle mass. Say somebody of 175lbs with 15% bf, so he has a lean mass of 149lbs, so should he eat 150gms of protein or 175gms?

I doubt it would make a difference either way. Once you get enough protein the rest is just used for energy, and most people suggest way more than needed for muscle growth.

It's not an exact science, I would go with the higher amount just to be safe. But really if you get between 1-2 g of protein per lb of bodyweight you'll be doing even better. I'm 160 lbs and I take in about 225-250 g protein. It's not really hard once you get going, you just base each of your 5-6 meals around a good source of protein. For example, 40 g protein/meal multiplied by 5 meals would give you 200 g protein a day.

What does ur 6 meal plan look like? getting 200-250 grams of protein daily from normal foods looks really hard...

I would stop working at McDonalds. Where ever you work, you need to have access to healthy options for food. People say oh just bring your lunch. I see people buy lunch 5 days a week at $8-12 a pop.

See if you can get a job at a market or grocery store, or better yet at a gym/fitness center.

Working at McDonalds and being around food and all your non-inspiring coeworkers isn't going to help you.

Plenty of people get much better results at 2g/lb as compared to 1-1.5g/lb. Sure they might grow at 1g/lb but we want the quickest path, don't we?

How are you capable of this? You're not working legs really hard if you can bike around town and play basketball everyday. I limp up the stairs pretty much all week long between squats and softball.

Well I've been riding my bike and lifting for about 2 years. My grandfather was 6'6 330 pounds and could carry a fridge on his back and walk around with it. My dad is 6'5 280 lbs and he has huge legs too... so I guess it's genetics? or maybe I'm not working my legs hard enough in the gym! Well all the MacD foods aren't bad u know, on work days I eat 3 of those "Grilled Chicken BLT Sandwitch" which has 66 protein, 600 carlories, 0 transfat! and that's the only thing I eat there! is that still bad? well I would appreciate someone to post their daily 6 meal plan cuz school is about to start so I need to start taking lunch with me.
