I'm about to go on accutane, and heard you can't drink alcohol while you're taking it. The reason I'm asking is because I'm in a fraternity, and I have some big parties coming up, and I don't want to be that guy (as in the guy who is sober and is hitting on girls that have been drinking). So does anyone know if you can drink alcohol while you're taking accutane?

People ask questions they already know the answer to in hopes of getting the answer they want.

This procedure is baffling.

Why are you concered about what other people think? Do you find you need validation to "feel" good?

i think you could do it pretty tastefully. If you're really concerned, tho, couldn't you delay taking Accutane until the summer?

Consider re-framing your situation. What can you do to consider the situation an advantage instead of a setback? Because you know that other people will think you are a creep and you understand your environment you have an advantage. Your options are limitless.

You could were a custom t-shirt that says, "Creepy sober guy who steals your gf" with an arrow pointing down.

You could have your own "personal" bottle of liquor that is simply water, sipping constantly and "getting" increasingly inebriated throughout the night. Then watch as you convince some girl that your bottle whose contents are premium of the highest grade, a grade from S. Africa which is highly intoxicating and comes with a sexual afterglow that is so powerful, only the highly experienced can handle it. Because of it's nature your brother, who studies the indigenous slaves who work the diamond mines near Johannesburg, sends you only one bottle that must last until Christmas. After she begs for 'just a tiny sip', grudgingly oblige and then watch her agree when you tell her, "I told you, that is some POWERFUL siht". If she tells you it tastes like water, "well that's how premium SHOULD taste." Or "obviously you've had too much to drink" taking her drink away from her.

Think outside the box and play the situation to your advantage. Because you have the knowledge of how the game is played, you can use that knowledge to prepare. Make it a joke, an inside joke, and only you are on the inside.

Have fun!

Have 1 or 2 drinks tops, and milk them all night if u can. My doctor told me u can have 1, maybe 2. She also said if u end up having more one night skip a couple doses of accutane afterwards, (and before if u know ur gonna be drinking). Try to avoid that tho, cuz every time i ever skipped a couple doses i would break out a little. It's gotta be a steady thing every 12 hrs for 5 months.

But my recomendation to u is to avoid drinking anymore than 1 or 2. Because ive tried it. One time i had 3 or 4 drinks and i woke up feeling like i would ater 10 drinks. The liver is already being posoined by accutane, it doesnt need to deal with alcahol at the same time. So try to avoid it, 5 months without alcohol is tough, but don't screw up ur body.

On a side note, have u evere taken accutane before? I just finished my 2nd course last week. I took it 2 years ago and it cleared me up great, but about 10 months later my face erupted like crazy so i had to start up again. I think it works great but the side effects do suck and its only temporary. I also get really cranky on that stuff. kinda made me depressed and i was picking fights w people alot.
It also makes ur skin crazy dry and ur lips as well. I had to put on chapstick every half hr. Aside from that, i got strep throat twice, and just an overall cold and cough 6 more times last yr. I am convinced it was from the accutane cuz i never get sick that much. nobody healthy person gets sick that much acutally. I got checked out a few times and nothing was wrong me. I got full physicals, blood tests, etc. Then i did some research and i found that accutane might lower ur immune system.

Who knows, i havent been sick much at all the 2nd yr i was off accutane, but i currently have a sore throat again, and i just stopped accutane last week. Coincidence? I hope so.

It wasn't temporary with me. It pretty much permanently destroyed the sweat glands in my face. Now I have to carry around chapstick all the time. :nervous:

I was on (Ro)Accutane and nobody told me not to drink. No ill effects as I recall (but it was ten years ago).

No, but the beautiful thing is that my derm said that I have the mildest case of acne she would put on accutane, so I think that one treatment would clear it up. I am going on it because the other presciption meds I was on didn't help a bit.

Really? how many times did u take it? And how long was each course? I took it once for 3 months in 2004 and thought i was losing my night vision so i stopped, got my eyes checked out, they said it was ok so i started up again 2 months later and took it a full 5 months. I didnt need chapstick for after 2 weeks. Ive been off it 9 days so far this time (my 3rd course) and i already feel my lips needing chapstick less. That sux, how long have u been off it? amybe youll get better with time.

I hated Accutane.

It cleared up my face but it was no wonder drug as I was promised. I was told it would clear up my acne over 90% and it would go away and not come back for atleast a couple of years. Well I'd say it did maybe 70-80% and now I have this neck acne just below my jaw.

It's not really visible but I have light-mild red spots dotting my neck along with these deep cysts that I'm sure will never come out on their own.

Not too mention that you're face will be as dry as the Sahara.
