Abs and low body fat question

Hey guys, I'm not a fat person at all, I don't think I have a lot of fat, but I read that to have nice well defined abs you should do cardio etc... to burn as much fat in that 'gut' area as possible, so now I ride a hometrainer for 20 minutes every other day. Is this good enough ? Or should I read the 'cutting up' thread ? Or s that too drastic ?

I just started a HIIT program.

Run/sprint 30 sec, walk 30 sec.

Has any one done anything else? On a bike? Stair stepper? Or variations of HIIT?

I went to the park last night with this girl from the gym. She suggested we mix it up a little.

30 sec run/30 sec walk/30 jog....
