I guess I just have to vent right now. This ****ing b1tch at work today started making fun of me in front of my co-workers and I'm pretty heated. It caught me all off guard. To give you guys some backstory I work in construction now, only been doing it for a little while, and this ****ing dyke gets hired is always trying to prove herself. So today we were laying foundation on this new project we got contracted to do and I was driving up the materials truck to the location. Now the truck I was using is a bit old and the hatch on the door of the pickupbed is a bit loose and it opened up and we lost some tools - nothing major but I didn't know we had lost them because it happened as I was driving.

So I show up to the location and we start to get to work and people are looking for tools that were supposed to be in the pickup that aren't there anymore and we eventually figure out what happened. So then this ****ing dyk'e has the nerve to call me a "dumbass" in front of all my co-workers and they were laughing at me. She then said that "I can find a better worker standing outside the Home Depot, and he'll be a lot cheaper." I was shocked that I was being called out by some bullsh1t rug muncher and I couldn't think of anything to say.

I feel like such a fool now. Anybody have any ideas as to how I can get her back?

It's just hard to ignore it when I feel as though I've lost the respect of my co-workers because of her idiotic comments

As much as it sucks..... The story is pretty funny... I'd forget about it and I wouldn't call her a dyke if another situation comes up. She will put a sexual harrassment charge against you and you'll be done.

If you wanna get back at her, start a journal. Write down what happens, witnesses, times and dates. If something comes up again, I would address her. Let her know that what she's doing is un-professional and that you would like it to stop. It's a construction area, so I'm guessing this would probably be taken as a sign of weakness. With that said, she probably won't stop and things will get worse, which is what you want.

Continue to keep your journal and after you have 3 seperate times that she's said something disrespectful, take it to your manager. Show him your journal and explain to him how these things have made you feel uncomfortable at work.

If nothing is done, sue her and the company. It's harrassment, so I'm willing to bet money that she will be reprimanded severly. No one wants a suit on their hands.

At work, always remain professional. You could lose your job otherwise. Even things that happen off the job could get you fired.

it is america and you will get sued if you have any money. working construction you are probably safe because you probably don't have enough money to warrant a lawyer getting involved.

stories like this is why i (1) will always be an expat (2) will never work for someone.

if it had happened to me, and i had my wits about me at the time, i would have responded with:

her: you dumbass
me: hey now, no need to be rude
her: well your a dumbass
me: well i'm going to go back to the site and try to find those tools. do you want me to pick you up some tampons on the way back, since you are obviously on the rag.


she basically would have flipped out and started yelling at me or something. to which id laugh and walk away.

bare minimum she'd learn not to call me a dumbass unless she wants to get slammed back.

oh one other thing...

when it comes to aggressive women getting in your face and stuff (and lets face it, some of them are real bull dykes), always remember women HATE it if you bring up menstration or their periods.

women HATE to be seen as being emotional simply because of aunt flo and get embrassed to hell over it.

you don't have to say 'your on the rag', you can be as simple as 'wow, must be that time of the month' and then walk away.

women go NUTS when you do that.

and if she calls you on it, like 'what do you mean by THAT time of the month?!!!!"

just smile and respond "just that time of the month where everyone seems to get cranky around the office"

calling her a dyke or any other sexual insults are pretty cheap. I'm not arguing the morality or the prejudice aspects or those insults, that's a whole different debate altogether. But those insults are cheap because they are easy to come up with.

I would try to make fun of the way she over reacted. Does she have any other faults?

For clarification's sake, yes "shop" is referring to women, not clothes. I am a guy

lol, firstly, which guy needs to clarify that they are a 'guy'.

secondly, did i say anything about you being a female due to your name? how did you know i was referring to your name? why? because you know its obvious, and i think its quite funny how only after other users suspected you as a female on other threads, that you 'created your clarification signature'.

If you let what she said to you get to you......you are giving her ALL THE POWER. It's obvious she targeted you as the brunt of her comments.....because she KNEW she could.....and you would do nothing about it. Women(even dykes) can detect the slightest weakness in a man- with amazing accuracy. I know it sux she poked fun at your expense. There will be many opportunities to repay her the gesture. Be alert to them. She may even get in your face, when you turn the tables around. Dare her to hit you. She'll be out of work, in no time, flat.
