About the resorts, the all-inclusive ones are great if you like to drink, yes. They also offer the added benefit of more security. I haven't been to Aruba, but pan-handlers/beggars are pretty bad in the Caribbean in general. The people are less violent than Americans, but theft is bad; there are a lot of poor people who have no problem stealing from what they see as rich Americans. So the all-inclusives also offer the benefit of not having to carry around as much money to pay for drinks. The downside of the all-inclusives is that they insulate you from much of the culture of the Caribbean, most of which is a lot of fun, but with a cultural experience you also have to deal with a lot of crap, which is not what you want on your honeymoon. So you made a wise choice there. Bring some strong sunscreen and wear a t-shirt if you snorkel so that you are not the stereotypical lobster-red tourist.
