I started doing the bulking program about 3 weeks ago, have noticed an improvment and am feeling really good about going to the gym and stuff.

My problem is I've got a 3 week easter holiday coming up, during this time I won't be able to do any training, nor record my food intake etc.

I'm worried that having a 3 week break so early in my program will destroy any gains I've made so far?, is this likely?. I can do pushups during these 3 weeks, and running etc, but no lifting. What should I do?

Not much you can do. If the gym is closed for 3wks it's closed for 3wks. Do dips between chairs. Push ups. Sit ups. Do you have access to barbells or dumbells? I think the gains you made in only 3wks are all in your mind anyway. Don't think you'd gain much muscle in that time. Try and find a gym the won't close on you like that..

From my experience if you rest for one week but still eat enough (especially protein) youll still be able to do the same amount of reps with the same weights. If you do exercises like push-ups pull-ups sit-ups you might be able to make this whole process of remaining muscle last some longer...I havent tried that yet cause ive always been able to hit the weights (why cant you work out watch what you eat properly during thise time by the way=, but Ithink if u use exercises u can do without weights and still eat right you shouldnt lose too much muscle/strength and will be able to get back what u lost in almost no time...i think its pretty important that u still keep eating enough protein though.

True, but he just said he had made noticed an improvement (which is possible if you never worked out before i guess) and actually I thought that too at first, but hes probably worrying about losing the progress he will have mad in another 3 or 4 weeks or so (eastern holidays "coming up")...of course you wont pack on a lot of mass in that time but its a start ;-)

The gym is still open, its me who's leaving college for 3 weeks to go back home. I could stay here and keep going, but then I wouldn't see family etc.

I think what I'll do is workout the day I go home, then come back after about 2 1/2 weeks, and immediately get back into the gym.

Yes I have dumbells, but they're nowhere near heavy enough. How about pushups?, presumably that would keep the muscles working whilst I wasn't lifting?.

Well push ups are better then nothing. Push ups mainly work your chest. You don't have enough wait with just push ups to bulk, to maintain though I suppose it's better then nothing... Don't go sloppy on your diet though, remember to get all your protein even when your not in the gym.

I agree with Mr. Hash. Protein is crucial and doing pushups ..barbell curls (even if its too little weight), etc. arent good for bulking, but they're better than nothing and might even help u to almost maintain your gains/strength if you're eating enough protein while youre not working out.

So..definetly go and see your family. You wont lose that much of your gains in 2 1/2 or 3 weeks and youll probably be able to get back what u lost in 2 weeks or so...
