I've 100% noticed this with cold approaching, comparing the city centre here in sydney in the year 2019 to now is a night and day difference.

The city is basically a ghost town on weekends now, people have become homebodies.

Your going to the wrong places. Trust me before I found a spot on the weekends where girls go to, looking to hookup with strangers I thought the same thing. It's just that these kinds of places have become more rare. And may be extinct soon. Who knows.

Which from the implication at the end suggests it's looking to replace the actual going out with your friends to do stuff in the real world part. And instead staying in and doing it in the virtual world.

There are many factors. I agree with @Zimbabwe's independent housing point, lower testosterone point, and social media point. I also agree with @Velasco and will illustrate below. Including @Velasco's point, here are some others that I think are applicable.

1. Pandemic/social distancing. This increase in sexlessness trend was occurring before the pandemic, so the pandemic isn't fully to blame.
2. More use of online dating websites and swipe apps, which are less effective at producing anything besides "one date, no sex, no second date" type failed interactions
3. Increased access to and use of porn, which does lower testosterone
4. Smartphones...and they are related to social media and swipe apps
5. Increase of female selectiveness with the feminists chanting the "Never Settle!" mantra and women having immense choice via swipe apps. Why bother settling? Keep having "one date, no sex, no second date" type interactions with most men or get sex and quickly tossed aside by a top tier man.

Some 62% of Americans ages 25 to 54 lived with a partner or were married, according to a 2021 Pew Research Center study of 2019 US Census Bureau data. This included 53% who were married and 9% who were cohabitating. That's well below the 71% of couples who lived together in 1990, with 67% married and 4% cohabitating.

Less steady partnering is going to mean less sex. Keep in mind that most men are beta males who need relationships in order to get laid. If beta males aren't getting into steady relationships due to the factors listed above, that's going to impact sexlessness rates.

25-54 is a key analytical age range. Those years represent the core years of adulting. Most people aren't widowed before 55. There is not a lot of marriage in the 18-24 age cohort and co-habitating is likely lower too in that group. 25-54 is when you move in with a woman, get married, have babies, and raise children up until the point of high school graduation.

Some of this has to do with fewer people getting married and an aging population, but that doesn't explain all of it. Among married couples under the age of 60, 26% had sex once a month or less in 2021. In 1989, it was 12%.

Even coupling up in steady relationships is no guarantee of sex. Having sex every 4-8 weeks sounds like a good deal to an incel man, but it is a lousy deal if you have to live with someone and share bills with them.

If one were to examine the age breakdown of the married couples under 60 in 1989 vs 2021, married couples ages 46-59 would be a larger proportion of the married couples. Age is a contributing factor to dead bedrooms. Ages 46-59 include menopausal and post menopausal women. Many of those women don't desire much sex. That's going to reduce married couple sex, but as the article indicates, that isn't the whole story. I believe married couples ages 26-45 in 2021 had less sex than married couples 26-45 in 1989. There are more distractions now and married women are more inclined to dead bedroom a beta male now than they were in 1989.

True, but some feel it's just not worth the headache and trouble dealing with the owner of the mouth and vagina the guy wishes to enter. Bc I'm sure the same way we don't have quality on dating apps with women, it's the same way women not having quality with men (not just talking about sex options and hookups). Alot of women don't want to hook up as 1 it could be dangerous and not worth it as far pleasure, and some are looking for something more important and "worth their time", because the **** and sex will always be there. I seen many women on reddit say they're leaving dating apps bc of bad experiences too, so there's that.
