Someone I study with told me today that he used to weigh 185 and benched over 300 lbs. He currently weighs about 165 and he claims that he was skinnier than I was when I started lifting. He told me that I should be eating oatmeal, 2 eggs, and 4 egg whites every single morning. I already eat oatmeal and 2 eggs, but adding 4 egg whites to that is going ot be a serious challenge to my dedication. I'm probably going to end up puking from eating all of those eggs after a couple weeks of that same taste.

I just want to makes sure that some of the more experienced people here believe that it's worth it to start the day off with that much in the stomach, and in that proportion.

This would be the start of a 4-6 meal-per-day regimen that includes 2 very large meals, and if I include his suggestions one very large breakfast, a protein shake, and a light meal before bedtime. I gained 9 lbs in a little over a month, but it's been another 2 weeks and even though I'm still getting stronger I'm not seeing that kind of weight gain. I know the mantra... eat big, lift big, get big. I just want to make sure that when I eat big, I make it count.

I believe it's because almost all of the fat and cholesterol in eggs is found in the yolk, so by throwing out most of the yolks you're avoiding overloading yourself with cholesterol.

Espi how do you force all of those eggs down, and what kinds of meals to you eat throughout the day, and how much mass have you gained since being on that sort of diet?

Good question. I think people have been brain washed into thinking that fat is bad for you.

wow.. top quality egg protein (best whole food protein there is in fact), top quality complex carbs (best carb there is in fact) and some very anabolic and vitamin-rich egg yolk to start the day with? revolutionary! it may catch on yet!

there's nothing wrong with that breakfast. I usually do something similar because it's so convenient, only it's always whole eggs for me. my breakfast always has more calories and protein that my other meals, and it's also when I openly mix carbs and fats (egg yolks + oats plus bread or whatever). it's a great way to start the day.

Deadly_Ripped, while breakfast is an important meal there's no one magic combination that will gain you x amount of mass, you must be consistent with your meals and protein/calories over time for this, however both eggs and oats are top quality nutritional sources and I include plenty of both every day.

I won't touch the cholesterol issue.. basically, read up and you'll see there's nothing wrong with the cholesterol in the egg yolk (or any other fat).

Cutting out the yolks will also lower the BV of the egg protein due to the loss of certain aminos.

The fat may not be bad but the calories do add up fast, 6 yolks would be nearly 325 calories.

I usually do three whole eggs and have another lean protein source.

I read in an article that too many yolks in one day can be toxic to your liver, but I have seen no other evidence to support that claim. I also read about a guy who was in a foreign prison, or maybe POW camp, and he was fed nothing but eggs. He claimed to come out healthier than when he went in. Is it true? Who knows...

I can't speak for anyone else, but my most common breakfast is an omlette consisting of 1 medium whole egg, 3 egg whites, chicken breast/pork chop, and veggies along with a half cup of grits. Water to wash it down. Here's the math:

1 medium egg, whole, cooked = 74 cals (5f, 1c, 5p)
1 medium egg, white only, cooked = 16 cals (0f, 0c, 3p)

A 1 egg/3 white omlette is enough to fill up most people, and the entire thing gives you 123 cals with the lion's share coming from protein. Modifications will vary based on your goals, but I've found this is what works for me when I'm dropping weight.

Also, if you don't keep a log of what you eat, I'd recommend you start now. It helps, period.
