I find this as nothing new.
When I was in school back in the 1980's. There were plenty of kids who did steroids before they were even in high school.
Some of them stopped, some of them got really huge and then just became lazy and fat over the years. It's easy to get fat later on in life after playing sports and doing 'roids. Hence, why you see many former athletes gain lots of weight after they retire.
You used to eat tons of food and calories. However, you would work out all the time and play sports all the time.
But as they get older, they stop working out and stop playing sports, but they don't stop eating like they used to.
Hence, many people gain weight because they still live the eating lifestyle but they dont live the working out lifestyle.
But there were plenty of kids when i was growing up who did "roids" while in the sixth, seventh and eigth grades.
There were plenty of teenagers doing them during the seventies when Arnold and others made bodybuilding popular.
Hell old German Swimmers, female, were doing 'roids' years ago as well. And most olympic athletes aren't older then 25. Some even younger then 21.
Problem with kids doing these things are they have a tendency to abuse them. They dont research and they dont work that hard.
They'll take them for a little while, while not eating right or exercising right and expect results. When they don't get any results, they'll take more. And more.
Some people nothing will ever happen to them.
Other people will have aches and pains immediately but blame it on something else.
While others won't feel anything until they reach 40 years old. And they too will blame whats wrong with them on something else.
How do you stop young people from taking anything?
Well if you had that answer, you'd probably be a god. Because nobody has stopped teens from having sex yet. Nobody has stopped teens or pre-teens from smoking. Nobody has stopped teen and pre-teens from becoming criminals. Nobody has stopped teens and pre-teens from fighting. Nobody has stopped teens and pre-teens from knowing it all. Nobody has stopped teen and pre-teens from doing drugs. Nobody has stopped teens and pre-teens from drinking or drinking and driving.
Yes, many kids don't do these things. BUt many do. So when kids stop doing all these other things, then I think theres a chance they'd stop trying steroids so young.
BUt that's just not realistic.
Esp in a society where our top baseball players are doing them. Most of our athletes are doing some kind of substances.
Its all about fame and money and self-esteem.
Who wants to feel bad about their bodies, nobody.
and our society wants everything NOW.
We have juniors in high school planning for the NBA Draft. We have football players dropping out of college for NFL Draft. We have teenagers playing minor league baseball and hockey.
We have 14 year olds playing professional tennis, golf, and soccer.
We have 12 year olds as gymnasts in the olympics.
ITs become a world of competition. And if somebody has a way to sneak passed those drug tests to get that added advantage, believe me, somebody is gonna do it. 10 years old or 60 years old.
Its just a fact of life.
