I think the "No Masturbation = Game" argument is quite interesting. A placebo effect could explain quite a bit, but then there is some validity to the whole "if the Placebo works, then stick with it" philosophy. Good thread.

Fake clothes will wear out ten times faster than the high-quality stuff you may be seeking. On a side note, I have purchased lots of good $hit on ebay (suits, etc.) and haven't run across a fake yet.
