Why do you think Rupert Murdoch keeps marrying new wives?

my opinion: I think that men of his generation just think that if a man is with a woman, he should just get married, regardless of the divorce pain that almost inevitably follows - from an age when the Blue Pill was considered to be normative.

He was 68 when he married that obvious gold digger Wendi Deng. So it's not like he's lost his mind due to advanced age.
Why do rich guys who could have all the sex with all the girls they want, go through this charade of marrying gold diggers? That's one thing I don't get. It's not like they don't know what's really going on, they're shrewd businessmen after all.

Because it's a stigma from that generation to be their age and not be married.

Things may change but when you grew up with that mindset it rarely does.

Just like why so many old people down South are racist even tho times have changed. The way they were brought up was how they were brought up and that mindset doesn't change no matter what society says later.

Guys in the 1% have the luxury of blowing away that sort of cash on floozies. The rest of us have to be a hell of a lot more cagey

Because he knows the value of money.
He's close to death. He can afford to marry a gold digger and fock her raw. Even if he loses half his money to her, all it means he has less inheritance money to leave for his kids / grandkids.

Hi Pipeman,
"Why do rich guys who could have all the sex with all the girls they want, go through this charade of marrying gold diggers?".....He Socialises and needs a presentable Woman as affirmation....Few Women are good in the sack, most just lie there like a sack of Spuds....To be an effective "Gold Digger"takes a lot more than just a pretty face, most of these Ladies appreciate this, they have learnt it is for them to make the effort, not just lie there and think of England....And so two Birds are killed with one stone!

Rupert Murdoch is 93 years old. He was born in 1931. His 1931 birthday would have made him older than some of the fictional Mad Men characters.

A 1931 birth year places him in the Silent Generation.

The Silent Generation was an interesting generation because some of its youngest adults were part of the Sexual Revolution of the 1960s. In the early 1960s, most of the Baby Boomers were still too young to be meaningfully affecting the sexual marketplace. A lot of later Silents (birth years 1940-1945) were attendees at Woodstock in 1969. The earliest divorcees of the no fault divorce era (1970-1976) were Silents as a lot of Boomers were either too young to be married in the early to mid 1970s or were in the earliest stages of their marriages and not yet dissatisfied enough to be divorced.

Not only is Rupert Murdoch a Silent Generation member, he's also earlier in that generation. Someone born in the late 1920s or early 1930s was more likely to believe in traditional marriage. Also, a blue pill ideology towards romantic relationships was more based in reality in the late 1940s - mid 1960s era. When Murdoch was a young adult, marriages were more likely to have worked out longer term than in later times.

Murdoch's first marriage lasted from 1956-1967. In the context of that time, that wasn't impressive. In more recent decades, an 11 year marriage ending in divorce is somewhat par for the course and actually a somewhat lengthy marriage. A typical marriage ending in divorce now is around 5-13 years. An 11 year first marriage ending in divorce is perceived much differently now.

His second marriage lasted slightly over 30 years. A 30 year marriage would be considered very successful if it ended with someone dying and was long enough for that outcome to be more realistic. One might think that divorcing at age 68 after a ~30 year marriage and a ~10 year marriage would have given someone lifetime exposure to marriage. Since age 68, Murdoch has now been married 3 times and also had one failed engagement.

I did not understand Murdoch marrying a past her prime Jerry Hall. Jerry Hall's best years were spent with Mick Jagger, as she was with him from her early 20s to early 40s and had 4 kids with him. Hall and Jagger never married. Marrying a nearly 60 year old Hall with 4 adult children isn't impressive for a billionaire.

Why people assume that being great making money leads you to being great with women is something I'll never understand.

It allows you to BUY good looking women who are with you for money, but that doesn't change the way you view yourself in terms of ability with women and how you interact with and maintain those relationships.

In fact, you'll find that most people who are great making money are single mindedly focused on that to the detrement of many other things in their lives, women being only one of those things.

Yeah, but this is him basically putting his hand to the fire and asking why he keeps getting burned.
I don't see Murdoch asking anything. This is not his first marriage, I have no doubt that he calculated the cost and doesn't care.
