What's your definition of Southern?

Would you call it
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Georgia
  • Florida
  • Alabama
  • Mississippi
  • Arkansas
  • Louisiana
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is Texas Southern? Do you consider the Southwest (New Mexico, Arizona, and Southern California -- Santa Barbara & points south) to be separate from Southern?

A lot of the public schools in states that I have bulleted tend to have higher Greek Life participation rates. University of Texas has a lower than a legacy SEC public school Greek Life participation rate. Private schools SMU and TCU in Texas have Greek Life participation rates like Alabama or Ole Miss.

Based on your feedback, I will answer your question based on the bulleted list states I provided. These are generally legacy SEC (pre-2000) universities.

Greek Life participation rates at legacy SEC universities is higher than at public schools in other states. The most attractive females on campus tend to participate in sororities at legacy SEC universities.

Below is the University of Alabama Alpha Phi video from Fall 2015 that caused a media crap storm based on a lack of diversity. I've also included an article about that media crap storm. You can see from this video that University of Alabama sorority women are often attractive. At all schools, some sororities will attract better looking females than others. A top sorority at one school isn't necessarily a top sorority at another.

Dusting this off… is the general understanding that major Southern university sorority girls are generally high quality?
Traditional SEC schools(Exclude Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and Texas A&M)….if you like stuck up racist white girls with a future in Marketing, entry sales, HR and recruiting then go for it.

I was in a fraternity at a SEC school.

I was in a fraternity at a SEC school.
When fraternity/sorority (Greek Life) participation rates get to a certain point, it becomes almost necessary for a male's social life to join a fraternity. I think that point is somewhere around 20-25%. The legacy SEC schools (pre-2000 membership in the conference) have Greek Life participation rates that are 25%+. Greek Life tends to dominate the social scene at that point. I can't imagine what it would be like to go to Alabama or Auburn and not be in a fraternity with their participation rates.

My undergrad alma mater was only 10-13% Greek Life and they had a larger than expected influence over the social scene at my university. Also, a lot of the more attractive females on campus tend to join sororities as compared to the mid females and the below average females.

As mentioned above, prettier women tend to join sororities. Prettier women tend to get post-college jobs in sales and marketing. Companies often hire attractive women for sales roles. Pharma and medical device are well known for hiring ex-college cheerleaders for their sales roles. Those aren't the only industries that do it. Marketing attracts attractive females because it has a perception of being fun and some marketing work environments are actually fun. A lot of Marketing jobs are boring. Marketing females are not as automatically attractive as a lot of the sales females.

Women in HR an be attractive and can also not be attractive.

Sales, marketing, and HR all have attractive women in them because they tend to hire from college majors with attractive women. It's primarily from the liberal arts/social sciences type majors like Psychology, Sociology, Communication, and Media Arts. Women who are majors in a business type discipline are not as attractive as the liberal arts/social sciences type majors. A bachelor's level degree in Psychology, Sociology, Communication tends to result in a sales job.

I went to school in the south and then I switched the mid atlantic ( where I am from). I was in college around the time you were. There is a big difference in the hook up culture of the south vs the north. The more north you go the easier the sex gets. Florida is an exception.
I visited UGA once to meet up with a girl I used to hook up with that transferred there. Athens is a cool little place but southern chicks are a little harder to get than northern girls.

I am not disagreeing with your observations. I had the same observations at my public university in North Carolina. I am just saying I got laid way more easily in the more northern state colleges.
This man speaks truth. Southern culture is very prudish and people are too nosy for their own good so they are always peeking into what a woman, especially a good looking one is doing. Even now, when I approach southern girls, I face it. I face that animosity or that shaming of "why are you going around talking to random women?". It is part of why I find southern schools to be the most overhyped in the whole country.

You even see it rub off on Southern guys who are always frustrated because their women do not put out. I used to think I was going crazy but too many Right Wing Bible Thumpers will shout the name of Jesus to stop you from getting laid.

As a result, Southern Men have to play the nice guy game and go behind closed doors or do a lot of sketchy stuff to get girls.

Southern cities are miserable dump partly because of how prudish the culture is. In Georgia, you get the worst of all the worlds.

You get the Bible Thumpers shaming sex before marriage

You get the Feminists that moved from out west and up north.

You get the liberals.

You get so many forces trying to stop men from talking to women.

Exactly. You dont feel like you can be yourself in the south. Everyone is very homogenous and cookie cutter. People came from these small Bible thumping towns and they were not that fun.

If you were black it was even worse. I literally got kicked out of a party in the south because they didnt know who I came with. My white homies had to stand up for me.

The girls were super afraid to be sexual so like you said you had to do it on the very down low. Even the black chicks were lame.

When I transferred to a liberal northern school it was a breath of fresh air. We often bemoan progressivism but it does have its perks. The conservatism that the manosphere idealizes is often very stuffy and repressive. It sucks the fun out of life. Its also very elitist.

Btw till this day I want to puke when I see sun dresses, boat shoes, those glasses with the strings and carhartt camo jackets. Those were popular on southern campuses n the mid 2000's lol.

There is a good case to be made for why legacy (pre-2000) SEC schools are the most overhyped in the country.

Even the Southwestern schools (Arizona, Arizona State, San Diego State, USC, UCLA) are somewhat overhyped. The culture in the Southwest is different than the culture in the Southeast.

Agree. This extends into cities in the Southeast like Atlanta, Nashville, and Charlotte. In the mating scenes in those cities, there are a lot of legacy SEC alumni.

Also, that nice guy game for Southern men tends to work better in social circles than in random stranger approaching.

Do you know what we've failed to mention much in this thread? Dorm room sex.

A lot of students live in on campus housing in freshman year and sometimes sophomore year. At bigger public university party schools, most students are living in off campus housing by junior year at the latest and sometimes even in sophomore year.

Dorm rooms are not good for sex. You're sharing a room that's a similar size to a prison cell with another male. There's not much privacy for sex. There are often conflicts between roommates over privacy for sex. Also, the beds are twin beds, which are not ideal for sex. A queen or king size bed is better for sex.

Getting an off campus apartment or house with one's own private bedroom is good. Even if you're in a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment or house with 1-2 roommates, there's still privacy for sex in this housing arrangement.
Didn't stop my roommate. Freshman year, guy was bringing in several different women throughout the semester. I even met some of them, and he had no shame of them ****ing in the middle of the night while I was trying to sleep.

That's a tough situation. I'm able to imagine you going to sleep something like 10-11 PM and your roommate coming into the room with a woman at 1-2 AM. What can you do? You're already asleep. Do you leave?

It was usually around 11 or so yeah cause I had early classes. I didn't really complain cause he didn't do it every night. Just now and again out of the blue. I just lied through it cause I wanted homie to have some sex. We even joked about it sometimes.

It's a common experience in the dorms for one roommate to go to sleep and other roommate brings home a woman later in the night. It puts the roommate who goes to sleep earlier in the night in an awkward place.

Dorms are a bit overrated as a part of the college experience. I think it does make meeting some people easier, but being active in campus clubs would substitute for it. Between campus extracurricular clubs and classes, someone can meet enough people without having to be in a dorm room.

The worst thing about the dorm room is that you are sharing a single room with someone and there's not much sexual privacy. Since sex is an important part of college, this is a major drawback of dorm life.

One upside of dorms is that they are often accompanied by the college meal plan. There's on campus dining for those who live in dorms, so a student doesn't have to think about grocery shopping and cooking right away. That's a decent transition into adulthood.

If I had to do it over again, I would skip the dorms and go straight into an apartment right away. The private bedroom for sex is that important. It's worth learning to grocery shop and clean right away.

I mean if you went to the Athens campus, a lot of the students there are suburban area Atlanta kids. However, it is the same mentality. Atlanta is a weird weird place man, you will see a busted up dude with a hot chick all because they met in church. It is not just you being black, if anything, I knew more than enough black dudes who got lucky at Georgia. The reality is that it is a strict frat culture at Georgia where if you do not fit into it, getting laid becomes tougher.

All in all though, I think outside of the religious zealots, what really makes the southern states bad is the fact that people are very very nosy there. I have not been anywhere else in the country where people are so nosy about what others are doing. I managed to pull in Atlanta on my visits in recent years and still had random women trying to look my way when I was bringing a chick home.

In northern cities and places like Miami, people have way too much going on to be nosy about someone else's life. The cost of living is insane so it weeds out the lazy people who cannot survive in a competitive environment.

IMO, if one had to pick a good college for getting laid, I would pick the midwestern schools. Girls have relaxed attitudes about sex and dating. A wing of mines tells me about the stories of his time in Indiana U and the kinds of parties they had, like hundreds of sorority girls being bused over. According to him, it was the middle of nowhere so all people did was phuk.

You know, as crazy as it sounds, I might legit take a sabbatical where I go to various college towns for a set amount of time and try to see how I do with game there.

I think you have a good point.

A lot of people think that the Southern Sun Belt schools are the best for getting laid. Those would include the legacy SEC schools, Florida State, University of Miami, a few Texas schools (SMU, TCU, University of Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M), Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, UNLV, and the Southwestern schools I mentioned above.

In the big Arizona and Southern California colleges, the women are often attractive but have bad attitudes. They are DTF but are demanding top tier guys. Typical 80-20, 90-10 type stuff. The big Arizona & Southern California colleges are populated with people from Arizona and Southern California, who are often superficial and pretentious. That's an issue.

The legacy SEC schools have pretty females who are often concerned about keeping up their images. There's a greater influence of Christianity in the SEC schools as compared to the Arizona & Southern California college.

University of Texas females are a mix of the attitudes of Arizona/SoCal and the legacy SEC females.

You have a good point about a lot of the Midwestern schools. I've heard similar stories about Indiana University and University of Wisconsin. University of Kansas is known to produce women who like sex a lot. There are a fair amount of University of Kansas (KU) alumni females in Dallas. Some of them take on the superficial and pretentious Dallas woman attitudes but in general they are often down for a good time. With KU females, it's better to get them while in Lawrence than post-college when they move to big cities like Dallas.

You know, as crazy as it sounds, I might legit take a sabbatical where I go to various college towns for a set amount of time and try to see how I do with game there.
That could be an interesting sabbatical. Men like to have sexual opportunities with 18-22 year old women. You are in your early 30s now so you'd need to have sufficient money to impress and seduce them. Otherwise, you might be regarded as the creepy old guy around campus.

You're better off at this point in your life continuing to do game in cities like Miami and New York City with the post-college crowd.

We weren't allowed to go to an apartment on our first year. Unless we wrote a very good reason to not be on campus. It was part of the college rules, and I suspect their way of not only getting more money out of us, but to make you get use to living there so you will never opt into non college housing. And it justified all their spending of multiple dorms. Hated it.

It is better to attend a college that doesn't have an on campus living requirement. Even at a lot of the colleges with no campus living requirements, most freshmen live on campus. Depending on the college, there are even a good number of sophomores on campus.

On campus living is the most overrated part of college life. There's nothing that it provides from a social life standpoint that you can't get in extracurricular clubs on campus. With off campus housing (typically an apartment), you'll have your own private bedroom, which is way better for your sex life than sharing a room that feels much like a jail cell.

Learning to go to a grocery store and prepare food is healthier for you than on campus food.

There are better parties in off campus apartment complexes than in dorms.

Bumping this thread because of the NCAA Basketball Tournament starting this week.

The NCAA Tournament doesn't impact the sex lives of most students at universities that are known for their college basketball programs. I doubt guys at the school whose team wins the tournament get laid any more in the week after the championship is won.

The NCAA Tournament is more of a thing for normies to consume alcohol and snack food than actually get laid.
Bumping this for the NCAA Tournament starting again this week. Everything I wrote last year was accurate.

A lot of universities with a good party scene have basketball teams are regular tournament participants. Examples of this include:

University of Kansas
University of Arizona
University of Kentucky
University of Connecticut
University of North Carolina (less known as a party college as the previous 4)
UCLA

Party school San Diego State had its basketball team go to the NCAA Final last year.
