Hi guys.

I've recently split up with my gf of 18 months. I'm going to download some of the apps (Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, Happn, etc) and was looking at refreshing the pictures I have.

The ones I've used in the past where they're just pictures of me from my phone have worked really well. These pictures are usually when I'm out with friends or even a selfie.

However, when showing my profile to people for review on other forums they've said that the picture quality is bad and I need better pictures.

I know that the old saying is "if it's not broke why fix it?", but if it's better than before and brings you better results them you can always change it for something better.

What are your thoughts? Worth the money?

I dont know cause women think differently than us and could see that as a sign of investment or wealth.

Me personally I consider it a negativa factor when I see girls online, makes me think of narcisism, high maintenance and attention wh0ring.
Yeah, makes sense.

I guess maybe one or two pro ones might be good, but the rest normal.

Personally, I prefer a cold approach then these dating apps.

What I found is that meeting a woman in person is always much better than from dating apps. You can instantly tell if she is into you or not.

But again as a second way of source is probably a good option.

The only downside of dating apps is that even the pictures the chicks use are heavily edited.

Good point, I'm not really a fan of cold approach. It has worked for me, but it's more from an SA standpoint.

I prefer to approach where she's showing obvious IOIs.

You're probably better off with professional pictures if you're going to make the apps your primary source of arranging dates. Many men these days choose to solely arrange dates via the apps as compared to getting out in the real world and approaching strangers. Approaching strangers is very tough. I recommend it over the swipe apps but it's a difficult path.

Depends on where you are and how you look, too.

Where I live you constantly see all of these "anti-harassment" posters up (which is quite ambiguous) and it seems to put off a lot of men.

I haven't seen any anti-harassment posters/billboards in my city.

Women don't care if they are approached by an attractive guy. Be attractive.

No poster or billboard is going to stop a dedicated, spam approacher from approaching. There aren't a lot of spam approachers anymore because most of those men are now using the swipe apps or sending social media DMs. Anti-harassment messaging tend to stop "nice guys" from approaching.

Anti-harrassment posters are part of the gynocentric social order (Rollo's term) to reduce approaches from unattractive, socially uncalibrated men.

You're probably right, it's only harassment if she finds you ugly.

I'll try some night game soon and see how that goes. I prefer that to cold approach anyway. I've been lucky quite a few times in the past doing it.

They are worth it. Once I started using professional pictures, my online results skyrocketed. They will help you stand out more compared to the other men on there.

I dont know . As post above says , it will always be better than messed up selfies.

But the irony is that a woman can have soley professional pictures and it wouldn't change the fact that MR random dude would like her and chase her , even if she would have messed up grainy mirror selfies.

While mr random dude can have professional pictures and women still don't like his profile...

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. You want professional pictures (as in professionally dressed ect) that are functional, think abouta pro photo in a pro setting you'd also use on LinkedIn. Or professional photos that look like they're taken randomly and spontaneously.

It will add up.
-good pictures ( right themes, poses ect)
-good bio
-supscription
- right locations

I don't know if you can expect to go fr zero to a 100 likes soley due to professional photos though..somehow it feels like trying to hard. But who cares?

I mean ... if you even read ANY articles about how to have a profile that stands out, majority of people recommend professional or high quality photos. Most phones these days have 4 cameras and are amazing quality.. so if you have a phone like that, you might not need professional photos. Otherwise, yes opt for them.

Yeah the art of the "profession " of taken pictures is knowing due experience which angle will be best for a type of face, which light filters, color grading ect.

Its like professional painting vs average man painting.

100% Sometimes it just basic stuff.. like angles as you mentioned that will make a man whos not even too short look alot shorter than he is. Guys when selecting photos dont really pay too mcuh attention to stuff thats behind them or anything in the photo. Lik e one of my older photos i used to post, I was standing in front of some tall grass at night and big lake behind me and the skyline about 10 miles away..

It made me look short but I used it beacause I liked how i looked in the photo (looked like a model in that photo)

Dont want to do that as someone whos 5'10.

Better to look short than some creature who crawled up from said lake.

Good point, always best to put your best foot forward.

I've never used pro photos but have gotten good results. I guess that the main point is that if you look good you'll do well on either.

On the one hand you'll separate yourself from all the other guys by getting professional photos taken. You can also use them for linkedin or some similar purpose (more worthwhile imo). Issue I see is the market your targeting- if it's women of the age that like posting silly bathroom pics, the Profesional photos may be seen as overcompensating. In other words trying too hard and this will have opposite effect.

I would think a high quality photo would instead be of some kind of activity. You want to convey you're fun and interesting first and foremost.

This is a very unqualified opinion tho. I know nothing about old having never used except for tinder a mere couple hours.

Yeah, I've got an IPhone 14 Pro Max which has an unbelievable camera. I could just get cool photos whilst travelling (whilst looking good ofc). The pro pics might be a bit redundant.
