Very good day. I have been a victim of affirmative action policies in both academia and in job searches. I am pleased with these although it is a painful reminder of what I endured as a White male in academia in the 2000s.

@CornbreadFed is correct that White women did benefit from affirmative action. Someone like Alissa Heinerscheid got into Harvard and University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School MBA program based on being a diversity candidate. She also received preferential treatment in hiring too. A lifetime of affirmative action led her to be in a position to be unqualified to be the lead marketer of a major beer brand. Her decision on Bud Light also impacted Budweiser and other Anheuser Busch brands.

Indeed. The critique is that every civil rights era achievement was peverted by ws to benefit white women and disabled whites, and if used on visibile minorities, then other non-black visible minorities who often immigrants from countries that have a strong anti-black sentiment that they bring to the US to prop up the ws there, or racoon-blacks who cater to ws beliefs while holding themselves out to be the exception. In this light, everything, including affirmitive action, is corrupted. The new movement these days is reparations because legislative reform to make things nice and fair are a waste of time and cold hard cash is the solution for everything.

The real victory would be to set a minimum score to join an organization and whoever reaches that score can moves to the following part while none of those who failed can...all of this regardless the race, gender, religion and so on.

This makes perfect sense but somehow someone find it a discrimination to someone.

Regarding the private businesses, they should be allowed to hire and promote whoever they want even their own dogs if they believe it will benefit the company.

Whoever needs a law to reach a high position it's because he/she doesnt deserve it.

And please let's get rid of that circus of differential tests for men and women in the army as if the talibans would shot their bullets slower to give women the time to run that quarter mile in 2 minutes more.

Of course it's going to be "discrimination" towards women when men hold the vast majority of very-high level IQ's.

As far as education is concerned, nowadays I think that White males might actually be the recipient of AA largess. Think about it - chicks are now about 3/5 of college students, and Asian & Ashkenazis are more academically gifted on average than Whites.

She probably had stellar grades, so I don't think that she was the recipient of AA largess, at least for her MBA. As for unqualification to sell beer, this is more of eggheaded elites thinking they know what makes their customers tick. A good choice for a marketing position for a chick would be a Stacy-tier sorority leader since she would know how to get folks to go along with stuff.

It depends on the entrance exams/criteria the colleges use. If creative thinking or individuality is heavily weighed, Whites will do better than Asians on the whole.

A lot of women go into marketing roles. It's also worth mentioning that marketing is broad and can cover many different types of roles.

A better than average looking, ex-sorority chapter leader might work in marketing. However, more of those women would be likely to work some sales representative job instead. Both pharmaceutical sales and medical device sales prefer to employ attractive women. New representatives were often in sororities in college and/or were college cheerleaders.

Women in "brand management" type marketing roles tend to be more careerist and less attractive. A lot of the "brand management" roles go to people with MBAs from elite school. Attractive women don't need to go through the effort of getting an MBA, either from an elite school or a non-elite school. Within marketing, the more attractive women likely work in creative roles, often times at advertising agencies, which are roles that typically go to those with bachelor's degrees from non-elite universities.

As for unqualification to sell beer, this is more of eggheaded elites thinking they know what makes their customers tick.
A lot of bigger name companies prefer to hire new MBAs from elite universities. This is a common practice across business functional areas, including Marketing. That's a hiring practice that is somewhat controversial, especially from the viewpoint of MBA graduates from non-elite schools. As a result, the value proposition in attending a school not ranked among the Top 25 MBA programs is questionable.

Alissa Heinerscheid did her MBA level internship at General Mills, a big name company with packaged food brands. After her graduation from U of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, she worked a "brand management" role at Johnson & Johnson.

Prior to the InBev merger, it is likely that the marketing talent hired at Anheuser-Busch was less likely to be graduates of elitist universities. In those days, they were more likely to hire non-elitist MBAs or people with bachelor's degree from non-elitist universities.

Someone with an MBA from an elitist university is no more likely to be a good "brand management" marketer than someone with an MBA from a non-Top 25 program or even someone with a bachelor's degree.

I will take any win against this woke nonsense that I can get. Today is a little bit better than yesterday.

I hope this reduces college enrollments. The USA has had too many college graduates for a while. We need fewer college graduates and more meaningful work for those with high school diplomas and trade certifications.

As of 2021, more women (46%) than men (36%) completed college (ages 25-34). I wonder if the recent Supreme Court decision will reverse that trend.

In 2021, 25-34 year olds were born between 1987-1996, so this covers the latter 2/3rds of the Millennial generation.

Too many Millennials went to college.

Men were more likely to major in something useful in college, such as the STEM disciplines.

A lot of STEM graduates have been incels or borderline incels.

I hope it does influence more people in to these fields because I want the trades to make less money and suffer from over supply and less demand hehe
