When it comes to a LTR, women don't care too much about what you look like as much as you think they do. What they do care about is that you are confident in who you are, your social status (respect amongst peers) and that you are passionate about your hobbies.
What prompted this post? As most of you probably have as well; I have seen way too many men dating/married to women who are noticeably better looking than them.
Just today, I googled a much younger woman's name whom I used to date about 4 years ago. I ended up finding her wedding registry and the guy she got married to is about 60 pounds overweight and average at best looking. She is a solid 7 (girl next door good looks) with big blue eyes.
You won't get anywhere with women if you are socially awkward, can't look them in the eye and don't have any hobbies. It doesn't matter if you are 6'3", look like Ben Affleck and have an MBA from Harvard.
You will still lose out to the 5'7", balding man with the gut who communicates confidently with women or has a unique hobby that piques her interest (plays the guitar, rides horses, etc.)
Watch your posture and the speed of your voice as well. I am tall (6'0") and have to remind myself not to slump my shoulders. Pay attention to your voice too, don't talk too fast and try and annunciate your words. Speaking too fast displays nervousness which will turn women off.
Conversely, it's the opposite for women! Men care about looks first and foremost and don't care as much about a woman's job, social status or whether she is shy or not. I used to work with a woman who was very socially awkward but always had a boyfriend since she was good-looking.
A good-looking uneducated waitress who is shy is still much more appealing to most men than a very average looking confident women with a Ph.D. in Chemistry!
I am not saying we should let ourselves go, but your good looks mean nothing if you are socially awkward.
Focus on your social skills, eye contact and hobbies!
If you are shy, a good thing is to practice where you don't care about the outcomes. Make small talk and joke with the 80 year old female cashier or the unattractive barista at Starbucks.
Let's go!
