This was a question that flummoxed me when I was younger and didn't have much experience. Because I was wanting to know where I stood on the competitive field. I've come to the conclusion that if you look at the women that you get, and put a number on them, that must be about what your SMV is. You are what you get, in other words. That's one reason guys get so hung up on certain hot women - I think they feel if they can get a hot woman, that value will reflect on themselves.

I'm not sure how else you could measure it. Sure beats taking the SMV quiz on Chateau Heartiste.

On the other hand, studies say people tend to overrate their own attractiveness. Guys like to think they date below their SMV, but is it really so? If you have to add two points to a female 5 because a woman 5 has more value than a man 5, that means a male 5 should be able to date a female 7. Yet the female 5 supposedly has more value than the male 5, doesn't really make sense.

I do see a flaw in my theory though. Women will get laid by a 9 male on a one night stand, because he seeks variety. Then the woman thinks she should be able to land a 9. That could work the other way around too, I guess. A guy could date a 9 and think the then deserves one. They have to be logical to be like that , which women ( especially under 30 ) are not

plus , women kinda feel that they are settling if you do not compare to their top 3-5 … which in return will increase the chances of her having some adventures with some sexy guy down the line
