Not sure whether this is something post covid where HB's are countering drinks suggestion with coffee. Now I dont mind coffee as long as we dont go to starbucks for those sugar drinks.

Wondering if covid made some women realise how lonely they actually are and try locking down some providers?

I dont mind the coffee counter since its the first time
- Why don't we go somewhere with dark lights where I can get close to you and escalate?
- Actually I prefer a brightly lit place where I can sit 2 metres away from you surrounded by kokblockers with a big fat table separating us.

This is what happens when you let women talk.

Interesting. I find drinking alcohol boring as hell. Although I did like it back in my "dating age" 20s.
Honestly, while I really enjoyed bars and clubs back in the day, I only ordered booze for a few reasons:

a) To avoid getting the "stink eye" from bartenders because I took up a barstool and only ordered a Coke;

b) Because it's really weird trying to "vibe" with drunk people as a sober introvert;

c) To avoid the "Why aren't you drinking?" comment from the women I met there; and

d) It looks very sketchy to buy a woman drinks but not have any yourself lol.

TLDR: I never craved alcohol or enjoyed it that much. It was just something I did to fit in with the nightlife scene.

Just say you're the designated driver. There isn't much they can say about that, even if they want to.
Not that I'd care to hang out in a bar with a bunch of drunk people while being sober. That isn't my idea of fun.

Fair enough. I had one guy bartender give me a big eyeroll once when I ordered a Coke. His tip went to $0.

I suppose tips are what he's after. I've talked to other people who felt "peer pressure" from bartenders to drink, but usually the designated driver line shuts them up. Why would he care what anyone is drinking, unless he's looking for tips? Or do some bartenders get a commission?

Yeah I was going to tip the same as if it was an alcoholic drink. I don’t know if they get a commission or pressure from the manager to boost alcohol sales. I didn’t use the DD line because it was pretty clear that I was alone. Anyway, I’ll stop there lol.

I don't drink alcohol (have never in my life), so if I go for drinks with anyone, I just order Coke. Never got a weird look, and if I would, I'd just say I don't drink. It can also be a conversational topic as they're sometimes curious why not.

I find that it is very difficult to do the early stages of dating without alcohol.

It would be possible to arrange dates without stepping foot in a bar. There are enough non-bar approaching options and tech-based options to arrange dates.

The problem occurs with having dates. Dinner dates in restaurants are bad for reasons we don't need to get into on this thread. Activity dates are difficult to schedule on days other than Saturday or Sunday simply because many need daylight to complete. Also, I find it is quite challenging in a lot of cases to plan an activity date based upon one 5-15 minute cold approach conversation, an Instagram DM exchange, or a swipe app/texting exchange. This leaves drinks in bars as the default option.

I've gone through phases where I don't drink. Not because I won't, but just because I don't feel like it (this is how i know I don't have the alcoholic gene). But there have been the occasional person who wants to try to push you to drink. I don't understand why someone else would possibly care whether I drink or not.
