Yes, we know. The Pequots and the Algonquins probably did some atrocious things to each other too. And Russia invaded Ukraine.
Considering that you agree that the U.S. does questionable things in pursuit of its foreign policy objectives, it is possible that coverage of the events taking place in Ukraine is being somewhat distorted to fit a particular narrative (i.e Russia bad, USA and its allies good)? Like, for example, you hear reporting about Russia bombing schools and hospitals but you never hear reporting about Ukrainians placing their troops and military equipment next to schools and hospitals. I wonder why that is?

Also, is it possible that Russia's complaints about NATO expansion are not entirely illegitimate? Is it possible that USA may have intentionally provoked this war and are now playing the good guy?

Generations of Americans are rolling in their graves right now. Russia attacked a sovereign, democratic, European country yet you are so deep in Kremlin propaganda you actually defend it because “Putin strong!”

Right, just sacrifice the Ukrainian people to pursue a failed strategy of appeasement. How many countries shall we donate to Vladimir Putin?
I don't know what kremlin propaganda you're talking about. I literally don't watch any news so there really isn't any propaganda at work here.

You are the one that is propagandized. No one cared when putin brutalized the chechens, it was barely a blip in the news. No one cared when the US did this to the Iraqis, the Afghans, the Libyans or the Syrians. But now suddenly because it's in the corporate news 24/7 and you're being told that it's bad, it's REEEEE and cancel a whole country, and call for the murder of putin, and war and OMG Putin is going to use Chemical weapons and WMDs (how many times have I heard that lie before).

No one is sacrificing the Ukrainians to anything. Putin is going out of his way to make sure that the war he's waging kills as few ukranians as possible. But no, let's antagonize him, start a war and kill millions of ukrainians in WW3 just so you can feel good about yourself.

And FYI, I'll be more than happy to eat my words and change my position if he starts invading other countries because then it will be justified, but until evidence comes out you and the rest of the media are just guessing at his intentions and plans and treating it as fact. This knee jerk reaction news coverage has happened so many times that it's a wonder anyone still falls for it.

The argument you are going on is “The US did bad things, therefore Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is justified.” Classic whataboutism.

Most of the civilized world finds that logic to be bullshvt.

No you are making stuff up. One could say US is doing bad things and Russia is doing bad things. Period.

Later one can philosophize about justifications where you can write 10 books about it depending on ones feelings, thoughts and moods.

They fall for it because it gives the same dopamine that women get when they get a like or attention on social media. It's unfortunate because some of the guys in here say some good **** when we're discussing women, but they seem almost clueless when it comes to world events.

What does that have with Russia invading Ukraine?
By your logic we are holding our government accountable . Both US and Russia are pushing to the extremes.
Certainly we're not getting the whole picture in war coverage. The first casualty of war is truth. That goes for all sides.

Regarding the last two questions - complaints are legitimate and welcome. They don't kill. I disagree that the US provoked this war. Russia provoked it by invading Ukraine. (Unless there's some overt military aggression I'm unaware of.)
There are plenty of videos on YouTube, covering the Genocide of the Russian/ Ukraine people in donbass and Lugansk.
Far right groups and the old regime, funded by the Washington government.
Most of this videos are 4 to 8 years old , documenting the killing of the russian/ ukraine people by the far right groups azov and Banderas

If the US is the creme of the crop and the big brother for every nation , it should have helped and not supported this nonsense.

Why is it so hard to admit Putin is wrong and must be stopped?
Dude you just want to be right .
Putin is wrong for invading a country , that's not even for discussions , but why are you falling for everything CNN or BBC is reporting?
This is clearly not the whole picture , yet you are the one telling that we should keep our government accountable .

You want to both sides this.. blame the United States for that short, fat dumb dictator embarrassing himself at the expense of Ukrainian lives. I don’t watch CNN or BBC so feel free to enlighten us with what kind of trickery they are using in coverage of Putin’s war.

No. It is not the USA’s job to pvssy foot around Putin and appease him.
Possibly right. But NATO keeps setting up closer to Russia. Thats not US’s job either.

It’s that Ukraine President that everyone loves and dresses like and claps for, who talks well and people love. All he had to do was side with Putin and theyd be OK. Now a stray missle from Russia hits NATO land, headed for WW3.

Because Ukraine chose the West, they deserve to be invaded? Insane.

How quickly people forget the atrocities of communism. Perhaps the younger generation are diluted thinking this is a form of friendly socialism but they need to be reminded of the millions who fell victim as a result.

From the original expansion of the Soviet Union, to Afghanistan, Chechnya, Georgia, Syria, Crimea and Ukraine Is only some of the reasons NATO didn’t back off or dissolve.
Russia with its current government and lead by Poutine is not a country you can cosy up to. Period.

Yes, the US has been involved in some very questionable tactics. However, the one fundamental difference is when its people doesn’t like it’s foreign policy, etc., they can vote them out In the next election. The people in Russia, many who just want to provide to there families like you and I, don’t have this luxury.

Yes, there is geographical and political bias by posters on here including myself, but the fact we can openly discuss and criticize is a privilege that many who choose too, will be jailed or face the end of a gun barrel.

For these reasons, I will support a country who fights communistic threat and rule. Democracy, even with its shortcomings will always be the better life.

Viva Ukraine!

Yesterday, the Russians bombed a military base in western Ukraine. The Ukrainians have a number of military bases in close proximity to the Polish border, which are being used to train foreign volunteers and stockpile weapon supplied by NATO. Poland is a NATO member. It is entirely conceivable that a Russian missile could miss a Ukrainian base and accidentally land in Poland. The U.S. announced today that even an accidental strike on NATO territory would trigger a "full scale response". A full-scale response is NATO declaring war on Russia. And If NATO attacks Russia, there is a very high probability that Russia would respond with nuclear weapons, as they would not be able to win a conventional war against America.

Basically, we are one accident away from a nuclear war that could wipe out mankind. And because of what? Competition between Russia and USA over who will control Ukraine, a country that is of no strategic significance and one that the average American could not even find on a map. The absurdity of this situation is just mind-boggling. Yes, Putin deserves blame for starting this pointless war but so do Western (and particularly American) politicians who have been using Ukraine to fvck with Russia for years and who have been needlessly expanding NATO towards Russian borders.

The fact that there is a military rivalry between USA and Russia 30 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union does not even make any sense. Communism is not a thing anymore. There are no major ideological differences between Americans and Russians. Culturally, Russians are far closer to Americans than many American "allies" (i.e. the Saudis). The only people who benefit from this pointless rivalry are the ones that Eisenhower warned us about (the military-industrial complex). Trump understood this and wanted to improve relations with Russia. He was brutally criticized for it, including by his own party, and accused of being a Russian puppet. His own “intelligence” agencies staged a soft coup that led to his first impeachment.
Agreed. The world wants to glorify NATO/America as the saviors but in reality, its a big bully vs Russia. Nobody talks about the ballistic missiles US has installed in Eastern Europe, while I bet you if Russia were to install missiles in Mexico, everyone will cry blasphemy.

America got off scot-free with many war crimes but not Russia simply because of global perception that US is an ally.

Not saying that Russia is justified to invade Ukraine, both parties have their part to blame in escalating this conflict.

Agreed

Russia gets the blame for invading Ukraine because it invaded Ukraine. Even Putin is owning his decision, I don't see him rationalizing anything or giving credit to anyone else.

Oh I get it. He was confused and feeling excluded, so he had to fukk another guy invade a sovereign country.

All good though if we disagree, I see a lot of different opinions here, and I'm not an expert. Just calling it like I see it.
I like the last part .
We all can agree that we disagree , and in reality don't know half the **** that's going on .

Politics is crazier than religion.
