The government, many corporations, and most employees in personal contact with each other and the public may be required to vax or provide legitimate proof of such. The wind is blowing in that direction as long as the vax totals are low and Covid deaths keep occurring.
When the FDA gives a vaccine approval mid Sept. look for All armed forces to be vaxed… Next will probably come most government employees.
We may or may not like it, but that’s what’s likely happening…

The value of not having to commute to work would be worth it for a $100,000/yr. position. a 25% pay cut would amount to $100 per day

Many employees commute 1.5 - 2 hours to Google's main campus. Mileage alone (at IRS rates) is $50. Plus an extra 3-4 hours a day you aren't commuting.

Divide the extra 4 hours into the 4 extra hours and you have $12.50 per hour. You could have a paper route in the morning and make that up.

If tge FDA gives approval, are pwople going to drop their conspiracy theories about the vaccine? I doubt it. But that is one of the main objections, "It isn't even an approved vaccine". But it is approved for emergency use.

I have no idea what the antivaxers think, but what I do know is that most conspiracies die when eventually confronted by known reality…
When that happens, most believers exit the conspiracy to avoid being permanently labeled by friends and colleagues as a wing nut. Been there, done that.

They already have been doing this...if you moved out of the area during the pandemic they likely lowered your pay based on the location you lived.

If you failed to tell them you moved and they found out you could have gotten fired for it.

It's still worth it to work from home even if the pay is less because you won't have to spend hours of your day stuck in commuter traffic.

That said, there are other employers who won't screw you out of money for not conforming to their boomer bullsh!t.

Many Google employees may pretty decent money (see PayScale). Even a 25% pay cut will still go far in places like Pattaya :D, as long as you have a solid internet connection. Does anyone know if Google is somehow limited WFH to a certain geographical radius of their HQ? (I'm too lazy right now to find out)

The US Fed government’s social pressure push is starting now.

Heard today from older friends that Medicare is sending out emails to seniors who are mostly vaccinated (~80%) urging them to suggest to younger family members and friends that they get vaccinated also …

They want people in the office because they have a long term lease on the land, they might as well use it.

My company for example has tons of office spaces going to waste since everyone does WFH, also handling confidential data at your own home poses a huge secruity risk.

Stuff like Bank guarantees are still done by paper, it's risky to do it digitally.

Huh I didn't think of that. That's a nice discovery. Seeing it happened here, it made the company I am associated with question if they even need all their cubicles and such. It's rather funny. But since they own the land and building, they really can sit on it without much expensiveness.
