So the HMO I have at my job is about $200 a month. I am in my mid 30's and rarely get sick. When I do get sick it is easily resolved by the urgent care. The urgent care costs are rarely $200 and they limit the cost to being under $300. This leads me to believe that if you should not get health insurance if you are single, healthy, and under 50 yrs old. The cost is not worth the reward when you have access to Urgent Care centers. HMO's dont even cover catastrophic events. This makes them even more worthless. What are your opinions on this?

thing about health insurance is depending on the what you get you need to be a member for a set of time, they also tend to not cover already know diseases, so you need to be healthy and have paid for some time to have access for the health care.

take note health care also cover accidents

What happens when you get involved in a car accident and you suffer a whiplash injury, ie?
Examinations, physical therapy, etc.

Wouldn't that be very expensive?

In germany, we have to have health insurance by law, so I can't relate

I work in this field and my job is to get as many young people as possible to get health insurance. Because if they don’t, then insurance companies will be left with old and sick people and their profits will go down. Then they would have no choice but to raise the premiums through the roof.

The more young people have health insurance, the lower the premiums. If every young person had insurance, the premiums would go way down. Part of the reasons why premiums have gone up lately is because trump got rid of the mandate for everyone to get insurance. It’s simple economics. Insurance companies are just trying to cover for themselves.

The way these systems are set up, people actually have to work together and do things in unison for a greater cause.

Everything in this country is divided because people are divided.

You can’t expect a system to work for everyone when everyone is out for themselves.

In japan, they have the best healthcare system because their country United after they got bombed. They have a workable system simply because their people decided to work together.

That’s pretty much it. It’s not complex. The culture dictates the systems, not the other way around.

People keep trying to come up with new systems in America, from Republicans to Democrats, but it will make no difference.
that is the basic, but forcing people to have also is wrong, you can't force people to wise up, people tend to push back things they find abusive or they are being abused for, laws who force that make things worse, because some would prefer to fight it back just to prove a point, and others the moment they find a way out they will take it, if you treat people like incapable morons they will act as such.

also note health care like retirement funds works like a piramide, several healthy people support the ones with the disease, problem is like it was mentioned, when the number start to not support said structure.

with will happen, nowadays the ones who could support said system don't have many kids, with move the age bar higher, so in the end the whole system will ruin

Vote for Medicare For All most of all, and the end of the AMA's restriction of America's physician supply too. No more problems.

They cover preexisting conditions now. ACA bans an insurance company from denying a person with PEC.

Are the dudes in Japan avoiding ladies, in general, like the plague? Doubtful that's an improvement to the American way of life.

You're nuts. Our taxes would go through the roof. The USA, unlike The Netherlands, is huge. Your country has 17,500,000 million citizens. The USA has 330,000,000 million citizens, maybe another 10 - 20 million undocumented people on top of that. It's why healthcare for all wouldn't work.

Private insurance is a scam as a concept.
Insurance is to help in the even of a major claim; similar to home insurance. We do not want to pay for it, but it's a necessary evil.

You are part of the industry. Of course you defend it. You make good living, enough so that billionaires getting richer off sick people doesn't seem so bad, I'm sure. Our healthcare system exists primarily to make the rich richer. The actual care is not the top priority.

I'm in Sweden, not Holland. I really don't know why you say having more citizens means M4A "doesn't work" and that "taxes would go through the roof" when it's a net saving due to non-profit, economics of scale, basic accounting and elimination of bureaucracy, and it's America's current system which gives it the world's highest per capita healthcare costs by far. You are either a moron or a shill for America's healthcare industry lobby.

It's not just sick people but they're getting richer off of morons/shills like him too, his own expenses would go down under M4A, that's what's so tragicomic. Also the AMA's artificial restriction of the physician supply in America should be ended.

Yep, you got it. Me, as a PA, living in Bridgeport, CT is just racking it in. PA's and RN's become said professionals to actually help people. I'm also an Air-force Vet. Am I evil for that as well? We deal with the insurance companies because it's a necessary evil. If you were in a Socialist county, you would still have to deal with coverage issues; gov't or private.

My apoligies, you are in Sweden. Not sure how you can compare an even smaller population than The Netherlands and universal healthcare. Yes, I know you dudes and dudettes are paying a lot of taxes already, but one cannot compare the coverage issues and expenses to a country 10 to 20 times the size. We can barely handle the paperwork in the City of Bridgeport. The accounting department costs more to run than the medical departments (as per public information). Sorry, you just do not understand the mechanics of it. It sounds good in theory, but a family/person making 50k a year would not be able to afford the additional taxes and surcharges that an universal healthcare system would levy. In Connecticut, with State and Federal taxes, we're near 50% in taxes already. It's not sustainable.

You make less sense than richardthefrog. The fvck does men avoiding women have anything to do with what I said about health care? Lol. No one is arguing which way of life is better. Nvm, I don't want to lose any more brain cells.
I am just saying, in Japan, where one thing may work, another thing isn't.

only it don't work as well as hoped, I kind explained this in another post, I live in a contry who have a public health care, thing is you still pay for a private one, why? because you don't want to die, everything takes time in public, to month to years, people die waiting for the day they can mark the surgery or treatment, also take note, goverments, state are bad admins they would burn the money on useless things and they tend to also be not as effective

and like I said its all a pyramid scheme, a huge number of healthy/younger support the old, problem is when the number of younger is lower then the older, then the system go in ruins

   Man what a tragicomedy show. I'm still not sure whether you are pretending to be dumb or not man, this shyt is just incredible. I guess you are pretending to be dumb and you think I'm stupid enough for this kind of laughable rhetoric to work, as it seems to work just fine with people around you? Whatever.... America's population will decide for itself either way.

These aren't problems that are inherent to universal healthcare though. I haven't done any research on Brazil's healthcare system, but in a country with as bad governance like corruption as Brazil, it's to be expected that institutions don't run very smoothly. Different governments may not want it to be run smoothly either as they may want to dismantle the universal healthcare, that's easier to do if they can sabotage it first, but bad governance alone is enough to render anything ineffective.

Where I live, pa and rn are two of the highest paying jobs around. A pa here can make more than a doctor, at least net after overhead and expenses.

And universal health care will destroy the pay scales of these jobs because the government won’t be able to pay as much.

More race to the bottom. I don’t get it.

If you'd like, you're more than welcome to become a PA and see how glorious it is to deal with infectious diseases, TB, blood, gunshots, stabbings, delivering babies, drug overdosing, people off their meds, psychotic people, MRSA, etc. every single day.. It's no picnic dude. The hours? Hmm.. 12 - 16 hour shifts sometimes. So, yea, we do not do it for the money, and most of us are not racking it in as you think dude.

A former gf of mine of several years worked at an ortho practice. If life was fair, she would have gotten into pa school, but I think they discriminate against anyone over 30. She worked side by side with an ortho doc and his pa. A very good pa can make more than a doctor in rural illinois where I live. You should move, man. You sound stressed.

Well most HMO plans do not cover catastrophic events like car accidents anyway. You are lucky that you live in Germany. The healthcare system is much better.

Bro all we have to do is let healthcare be free market. The market usually solves most issues. The prices will come down to reasonable amounts. It will be much like car insurance.

I lived in a 3rd world nation that had free market healthcare. Yes the healthcare was not that great when you were looking for a specialist but everyone had access to basic preventive care.

Before Obamacare health insurance operated on a free market model. Health insurance prices were somewhat reasonable. Obamacare was a disaster for America.

The govt needs to get out of the healthcare industry period. But we live in a fascist nation where the state keeps expanding. Or we can do Medicaid for all and go full blown fascism. Either one is fine with me. Its just this middle ground that is the worst place to be.
