Interesting, but true story. I still had my rose colored glasses on so I agreed on marriage, but never proposed. When my now ex-wife got out of the shower, I tossed the ring box to her and said, congrats, you're now engaged with a smile. I thought it was classic, she was just in shock. That too, but not only. Marriage is about getting old. Sure you can have children without marriage, they will be bastards, but whatever. Having bastard children does not give you old age security. They could be raised by your ex gf and her hubby, nobody is gonna visit your ass. Also, children get married form families, you can not rely on your children for support. Maximum they can do is visit you once in a while. You need a woman next to your ass so the two of you spend your getting old together and provide support and comfort to each other.

My neighbor he is 65 had a stroke. Now his wife is taking care of him. That kind of support.

I’m in the marriage for children camp. It’s ideal for raising children in today’s society (based on the child’s best interest). I’ll negotiate my way into a marriage that makes sense when the time is right. I don’t think any man under 35 should even consider it.
