More Right wing propaganda. How is something people pay into for 40+ years an “entitlement?” The irony... high income people pay a smaller percentage than everyone else, due to the regressive cap.
As if everyone receiving government money payed taxes for 40 years.

That doesn’t matter. Rich man evades taxes, he’s “smart.” Poor man gets laid off, he’s “lazy.” Typical right wing double standard. Did you support the $1.5 trillion giveaway last year to billionaires and corporations?

You are talking about Federal income tax, but everyone pays usage taxes. Poor people buy booze, cigarettes, gasoline, and everything else that gets taxed at the transaction and before. And all of those taxes are regressive, in that they take away a larger fraction of a poor person's wealth than a rich person.

Entitlement spending is mostly social security and medicare/medicaid. It is not housing and food, which by the way, goes right back into corporate coffers as soon as it is doled out. That's the real reason we have food stamps. All that money goes straight to Walmart and the handful of giant corporations that control our food supply as soon as it gets spent. They are the ones with Washington lobbyists, not the poor people. Hating poor people is just a distraction from the reality that the welfare state exists for corporate benefit. They are the ones who wrote the rules, like the one that says I can buy diet soda with food stamps. Who the hell is benefitting from that besides the soda company? Diet soda never kept anyone from starving to death.

Power comes from wealth gap. There’s no power if everyone is equally poor or equally well off.
Hmm. This sounds really good. Can you give me an example of this ever working in the world fvcking ever?

Well, now we're reverting back to demand side economics.

It's one thing America is a little bit better at, which is finding a way for the populace to have some baseline that keeps them from going ape shyt. Bread and circuses. As long as people are comfortable, not much will change. .
I don't think America is better at that. I think there is nothing to change. America is the land of the free, the land of opportunity. What is the populace going to get upset about? Too much freedom? Too much money to be made? Too much democracy?

It's good to debate people when you're young, I agree with that. You should figure out who you are. I did the same thing when I was your age. As I got older, I learned more about myself, and finally decided where I stood on matters.

I've reached a point where I rarely have mental revelations. You'll probably say that I'm set in my old ways; you might call it cognitive dissonance. I doubt you will mention wisdom, though.

FUN FACT: It's always a good idea to keep tabs on those that would like to see your downfall. If you're conservative, that means leftists. They are always thinking about how to make your life worse.

I never hated on poor people. I come from poor peaple, you ignoramus. I merely pointed out that you wanted to paint entitlements with a broad brush: one that everybody pays tax dollars into, so they deserve those monies. This is obviously not true.

You failed to consider Medicaid, food stamps, Section 8 housing and government pensions. All of which are abused by anyone with a 90 level IQ. This goes for you, too, @Bible_Belt. I don't hate poor people, I hate those that game the system, politicians and poor alike.

I'm not even sure why either of you disagree with me. @Bible_Belt is a good fist fighter living in chosen genteel poverty, and EBR has a lot of sense when it comes to lifting weights. Both of you obviously know the fruits of hard work, yet you both want to sugar coat lazy peoples lives. I don't get it.

No, it wouldn't get upset about those things. But it might over too little freedom, money, or democracy. I'm not saying it will happen but those are often the reasons. Some people want change, for instance Trump voters liked his call to "drain the swamp."
A lot of people want change. Bernie would have won the primary if it wasn't for crooked Hillary. And I would gladly have taken him over her, if for no other reason than upending the system.

Which is also why I liked Trump. I just lean towards a supply demand mind.

This always confuses me about leftists.

They rage at corporations for buying Government favors (which are legally for sale), and want to punish the Corporations for doing these things (I agree this is bad and should not be happening). But the favors will still always be for sale through other means.

Doesn't it make much more sense to shrink the Government and reduce the favors which can be sold?

Do you punish only the guy who buys a bag of weed? Or do you go after the cartel?
Right. And both parties do it. You would think that people would catch on.

EBR is a textbook liberal: open monies, open borders, open to sexual dimorphism etc.

Once they ruin America, they'll be looking for someone else to blame...yet there might be noone left except Israeli Jews, Arabs and Chinese. See how that works out for them.

Entitlement spending is mostly SS and Medicare, both of which are taking care of old boomers, and I don't have much argument against it, other than their gold coffers. Never in history has such a robbery taken place, and never will you see it again. Smart fvcks, the boomers were. Except when they got taken by the dot com boom, or the housing crisis, or the soon to be pension crisis. Or the education bubble, because they HAD to send their kids to college, so they could also afford a McMansion. Or the private debt bubble. Or the state bubble, or the city bubble.

It's all fiat money anyway, right?

Print as much as we want! It doesn't cause inflation apparently.
Isn't that what @Bible_Belt just referenced and basically blamed on Republicans?

Both parties are fvcking you in the long run. I resort back to my previous post: all politicians are power hungry, and that type of person is last one you want in charge. They get paid to do it, and they redistribute wealth how they see fit. Which creates a permanent underclass, the one the American dude living in Japan referenced earlier.

@taiyuu_otoko you have an unusual handle

As far as I know the American system was designed to appeal to self-interest. I'd have to read up on James Madison but I'm pretty sure they wanted people serving their interests as well as the public. I'm not sure how they would have envisioned it or compared their ilk with the politicians of today. Those guys fought for a cause, went to church, invented things, brainstormed enlightened ideas, farmed (with slaves), etc. Today's professional politician often serves as many terms as he can, and/or cashes in as a lobbyist or "consultant." They have a right to earn a living but how many go back home and serve their local economies, or do things besides feed the beast?
Hard times create hard men.

People today are living off the spoils of smart, hard men.

Demonize smart, hard men, and see where it leads us.

No place good.

"Our betters" used to have the sensibilities of their lessers; or at least their interests in mind. These days it's all about the quickest dollar, which sounds cliche lmfao, but it isn't.

This is a perfect example of dodging facts and discussion points.

First EBR cites how paying into a program doesn't mean the payout is "entitlement".
Correct. “Entitlement” is just a right wing pejorative for SS and Medicare.

Then Tyte Eyez points out that a great many people don't pay into those systems for 40 years.
This is actually a false statement that I let slide. “Great many” is not a quantifiable amount, and this the argument is just wrong. Everyone who’s ever been an employer or employee has contributed to this programs.

Then EBR pivots and switches to another topic.

When you pin down one of these people with facts they slide to something else. When you ask them to source something they call you ignorant and refuse to provide anything.
I let his little lie slide. He’s far less trollish than you.
