It’s happened so often. And most of the time it’s men who get the full brunt of it too.

I could see why you would say that, but to be honest, I think most of the incidents I'm familiar with are with women. Probably because they are more likely to be on social media and talking freely.

Yes they r more on social media.

However men r more likely then women to get into trouble. I think that's what @ImTheDoubleGreatest! has observed and if so I concur.

Women do get away with plenty of things said that men simply can't and will be held accountable.

Every woman and HR lady thinks that she’s a private investigator now because she has Google. As a real private investigator with a license I find that hilarious. I’ve had women I’ve dated do their “background check” on me and think they found some real stuff. Then I run them and find 100 times more without using Google. But unfortunately The content on this site does get found in Google. That’s why, as has already been said, best to use a different alias here on sosuave than anywhere else. For real though I agree completely. I also don’t use this username anywhere else, along with omitting some details in posts that I think could be searchable. I can’t help but feel like if I included details say, about her family, then that may allude to revealing ‘hey, this guy is actually writing about me!’. I remember reading one thread where a girl went through a guy’s web history (or similar) and found he was writing about her - that was pretty much it for whatever he had with her.

The chances are slim for that online, but I notice that this forum has a few dozen active posters, but in the hundreds or thousands of views. Some threads towards a million. Some girl may be adventurous and try searching relative details. So I prefer not taking the off-chance that it’ll be read. Now or later in the future.

Yeah, that’s a pretty good example. Unfortunately getting the attention of the wrong kind of person online - vengeful crazy person who takes things far too personally. And they’re definitely not uncommon sadly - seems like the internet simultaneously empowers and makes things very personal.

Example from the news today - https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/ontario-eatery-targeted-online-by-sarah-sanders-supporters-1.3987505 - hundreds of people trashing a restaurant online for kicking out someone (political reasons). The completely wrong restraurant. Along with another with a similar name (600 phone calls??). But blinded by eagerness and rage. Definitely can’t be too cautious with online stuff.
