How do most average guys actually date???

Most men I know have girlfriends and dating lifes even though most men look like garbage, dress like garbage, make mediocre money and are horrified of cold approaching anybody. With how immensely difficult dating is for me, as a man who is top 0.1 to 5% in everything men get judged on, how does the average man ever date? I just don't get it

It's not like these guys are cold approaching women at bars or gyms or stores. Women at those places make that process insanely difficult. The only guys who have success on online dating look like male models. Most guys I talk to are deathly afraid of cold approaching.

Is everybody just getting lucky meeting someone through friends or work and same thing is not happening to me?
